Saturday, March 12 2011 was the 17th official points race of IROCC's 2010/2011 Winter Season. We had a small turnout with 17 entries.
Gord Wood turned in a nice run in the C-Main to take the overall win, and the first bump to the B-Main. Gord had fixed a bad bearing in his car, and this improved his time by two laps over his qualifiers! Jarrod tried his best to steal the win at the line, but he had to settle for 2nd, just three one-hundredths behind Gord.
Nick Fantetti had things back on track on this night. He sat on the pole in the B-Main and would lead from wire to wire. Behind him, Daryl Jones and Rob Fantetti had a good race going for 2nd place. These two were never separated by more than two or three seconds, with Daryl running ahead of Rob. Daryl stayed smooth and secured the 2nd place finish at the end.
Congrats to Danny Lester for another great performance in the A-Main! Danny finished 2nd place in the main, just four seconds behind Craig Roberts! Danny also turned the 2nd fastest lap in that main; quicker than all other drivers but Craig. Glenn Armstrong had to settle for 3rd, Nick Newroth 4th, and Blake Bell fell back to 5th after a technical issue in the closing minute.
*** Reminder that next Saturday (Mar 19th) is the last indoor race of this season.

Saturday, February 19 2011 was the 15th official points race of IROCC's 2010/2011 Winter Season. We had a small turnout with just 15 entries. Big thanks to Chad Hudson for coming over from Chilliwack to join us for racing!
Congrats to Tom Younger to TQing on this night! In the 3rd qualifier, both Tom and Blake Bell were running ahead of the TQ pace. On the last lap of the qualifier, Blake managed to pass Tom in corner #3. Then, in the back chicane, Tom returned the favour with an unbelievable pass on Blake in the last corner before the straight. Two passes on the last lap and the cars didn't even touch each other! Tom secured TQ by one-tenth of a second!
The B-Main had a good race between Daryl Jones, Nick Newroth, and Mike Allen. Daryl and Nick ran very consistently up front, and Mike just couldn't make up the two second gap between himself and the leaders. In the end Mike would have to settle for 3rd while Daryl took the outright win and Nick took second.
The A-Main saw Tom lead for the first half of the race before making a mistake and letting Blake take over. Blake had almost a three second lead before he made a mistake of his own. This allowed Tom back in front with about two minutes left in the race. Blake pressured Tom for the remaining laps but Tom held his ground and took the win just one-tenth of a second ahead of Blake. Great racing!
