I am setting up my genx it is the newer one without the removable battery tray. I am looking for a good starting point setup. Things like battery position and springs.

Battery forward I used red font spings but Blake and Craig put the 1/12 scale kingpins and spings on the car

Switching the car to 1/12 king pins and .55 spings is highly recommended if you are running on carpet. Outdoors it doesnt make much of a difference, and might even make the car more unstable to drive.
This last weekend I used Gords old LE car (the type of car you are switching too?) and tried with the long springs. Worked well but did have quick enough steering to make acouple of the turns, which caused the car to run real wide. I switched to the 1/12 and .50 springs and the car had much better steering response, easily making it thru "The Switch Backs" .
