IROCC Speed Weekend 2017 Summer Onroad Asphalt Trophy Race - Victoria, July 8-9 2017

The Island Radio Operated Car Club (IROCC) in Victoria BC is pleased to announce its Speed Weekend 2017 Asphalt trophy race this summer.  This year's event will follow last year's two-day format with four rounds of qualifying, triple A-mains, and double lower mains for all electric classes.  The 10th Scale Nitro Sedan class will run single mains with bump-ups.

Race date: July 8-9, 2017

Classes:

Touring Stock
-17.5 motor, blinky ESC, 1350g

Touring Modified
-Open motor, open ESC, 1350g

Touring Nitro
-.12 engine, foam tires

Scale Spec
-21.5 motor, blinky ESC, 1450g

Formula 1, Mini
-These classes are dependent on entry count

Touring Stock/Mod Rubber Tire Rules:
Last year's race was very competitive around tires.  To keep costs down for everyone, there will be a two-set maximum for the Touring Stock and Touring Mod classes.  In both classes, racers can choose their favourite brand/compound (Must be 32, 34, or 36 compound only), and our tech team will mark the tires.  Only marked tires will pass tech.  Racers must bring their own tires!

Team Powers 34 tires are an excellent pick for our track, and they are the "club tire" locally.  These tires will be available for sale at the race for those that want an easy tire solution.

*** Kids and novice racers are exempt from tire rules.

Haha not bad for 2010 camera tech.  This was easier to follow than a carpet race cam I saw online somewhere.  The car was so fast and turned so quickly on the carpet that it was really dizzying.

Just a few days until Speed Weekend Asphalt 2017!

The plan is to setup the track on Friday around 6:00PM, depending on when the parking lot clears out.

See ya there,
Blake

Hi IROCCers

Big thank you to everyone that was a part of and attended this event.  I've been attending since 2009 and have felt nothing but friendliness and a fun competitive spirit from each and every one of you.

I know how much work it is to run an event, as well as keep the club going year after year, setup and teardown - so BIG thank you for your determination in continuing to host big events like this one, and to keep the club strong and going along.  I will be cracking the whip on mainland racers next event to ensure that they come with too!

Short plug for the RRR Summer Challenge Aug 5-6, hope to see you there: http://www.rctech.net/forum/canadian-r-c-scene/992166-2017-rrr-summer-challenge-aug-6-7-race-enduro-presented-racersrc-com.html
