Alright sounds good - hopefully we have a decent turnout, and decent weather.  Thanks to Chris M for working on the club rental car - it should be back in business on Sunday!

PS.  I will have the Team Powers 34 rubber tires onsite, as well as the Nitro foams and fuel.

See ya there,
Blake

Is Matrix open for carpet practise? I'd like to blow the dust off my 1/12. I know, bad timing with the summer season starting.
Thanks,
Colin

Hey Colin,

Good to hear from you - it's been a while!  Matrix is open for practice on Thursday nights.  Typically the doors are open around 4pm.

Hope to see you there!

Racing was fun yesterday - some good racing even with low numbers.  We could use another 10 bodies out there!  The rental car is ready to rock if anyone has a friend interested in trying it out.

Could I ask a few questions?
- What is the Scale Spec 21.5 class?
- What could be a good entry point for a new racer? Electric touring?
- Is the Spec-R still a good chassis to start with? Can Matrix bring them in?
- Anything else I should know?
Thanks,
Colin

scale spec is a touring car chassis with a 21.5 brushless censored motor and a blinky esc and a different kind of tire than tc stock.  With any body you want (no tc or pancar bodys.) and a roar approved 2s lipo.

Ss is also heavier than touring stock.
Uou can run both with the same chassis if you just change motor, tires, body. Everything else is the same.
The big difference is really seen in the tires. Hey are scale treads and wheels. They just arent the same as touring car tires. The bodies are pretty much the same if you run an ats or camaro ect. you can run any car body you like for the most part. Just 190mm and not a touring car race body. So anything from a honda civic to a porche 918 ect

Hey Colin,

Scale Spec is nice because the speeds are lower than TC Stock 17.5, so that makes it easier for new racers.  It's a new-ish class that has really been gaining popularity in North America (under different names) over the last several years.

Spec-R is off the map now so it's no longer recommended as a good place to start.  Your best bet will be to look for a used XRAY T3 or T4 car.  I have lots of spare parts for these cars at Matrix.

Gasp. I just looked at the prices of new XRAY kits. Used sounds good!

I'd like to try the rental car June 11th if possible. I have a good balance charger and radio but no battery.

I have to laugh at myself, I'm looking for used kits already. I might take breaks from RC, but I'll be involved forever.

Sounds good Colin - the car is yours for Sunday for TC Stock.  If the other new person shows up then they can run it in Scale Spec.

The weather is looking good for tomorrow's club race!  We should have a couple newer people out and Nick is going to debut his new AE ride as well.  Come on out everyone and let's have a good turnout!

Setup is at 9:30am.

See ya there,
Blake
