Hello

We will be doing some upgrades to the website on Tuesday Mar4th in the late afternoon and evening. There is a potential for some "issues" to come up during the upgrades so please be advised that if you experience problems it is due to site maintenance, please be patient.

We are trying to prevent the latest assault of spam etc in our forums. It isn’t as simple as banning an IP (it changes every time) or preventing guests from posting, which we already control. Upgrades are needed.

Blake will be helping me, so if it all goes sour, please remember to bust Blake’s chops too and not just mine! LOL

I am doing one last database back up right now (3:20 PM). Everything should go smoothly but if you were thinking about creating a 3000 word post (cough-thomas-cough) I would wait until later tonight.

Hmmm. I just got a "Sorry, this module isn't active" error message after clicking on a "Forums" link near the top of the page. The back button still works on my browser though.

OK,

1) the no right column on the template issue is resolved,
2) annonymous posting issue resolved (hopefully)
3) modules not working, resolved, this is likely a browser, cashe issue on your machine. A hard (crtl+F5) refresh etc fixes this.

4) lost format in results issue resolved

5) missing main image and reappearance of Nuke default image problems will be fixed tomorrow.

6) the "quote" function problem I am stumped on...anyone?

is there a setting to allow it, i know theres ones for allowing html codes, smilies etc, maybe theres one for quotes..

jarrod, your reasoning is correct. I have allowed the html tags I think are involved but that didnt work.

I will keep researching it.

It's bbcode, not html that you need to allow.

Nope. Not at this time. I'm not sure what you've done so far -- it's kind of hard to deal with this sort of thing from the middle, rather than from the beginning.

I'm guessing prehaps the syntax has changed for quoting, and the module that builds the HTML is incompatable with the module that is used for composing posts.

OK that upgrade took quite a few hours. As far as I can tell we are back to normal.

Please report any other bugs, although it will have to wait as I need to tend to my real life for a little bit here.

Hopefully we don’t get any spam, which was the whole point of the upgrade.

PS. I will be using that "hey, I do the website" excuse during setup and tear down for quite awhile now! LOL

Did you see RCTech last night? At opne point almost every single forum had SPAM as the most recent contribution. Seriously, on almost any link the header was about something or other related to SPAM. The problem got worse, too. The SPAM source was using the longin and signature information of the members, so poor folks were looking at the list saying "I posted what? What the hell?" Eeek.

Issues I see:

Links within the forums go to name=Forum while link in the left side of the site goes to name=Forums and the actual module is Forums. So, the link in the top area of the page when looking at Forums and the link in the bottom of the page when looking at Forums are broken.

I'm also getting a PHP-NUKE logo as the logo.gif rather than the old IROCC logo as logo.gif.

What on earth could possibly be more important than keeping up the racing website?

The HTML in the Stories (you know, News/Results/Stories) is all gone.

Yep those html tags will likely be gone forever. The latest Nuke version strips all html tags, they have to be re-allowed after the fact, but they are stripped so re-allowing oly helps for future articles.

It will all be in the backed up DB but I am not prepraser to go extract all teh content for teh articles.

If you save a text file somewhere locally it can be re-loaded, otherwise its toast.

wait all may not be lost, I can fix some of that up potentially. What other tags did you use other than <tr> <td>.

The artciles may not be stripped. The "messages" artcile that is the very first note at the top of the front page with the group picture had all html stripped, right from the db, that why I was worried it was gone forever.

However it looks like articles are preserved I just have to allow each tag individually.

dont login as admin and retrieve any atricle through the admin interface, the tags will be stripped if you do that before I allow the tags!!!

PhpNUKE 8.0 (upgraded from 7.0) had to be upgraded one release at a time, ie 7.0 to 7.1, then 7.1 to 7.2 all the way up to 8.0.

Nuke 8 had 3657 new files in 272 folders.

all three of those tags should technically already be working.

$AllowableHTML = array("table"=>2,"b"=>2,"hr"=>2,"font"=>2,"p"=>2,"br"=>2,"td"=>2,"tr"=>2,"img"=>2,"quote"=>2,"pre"=>1,"b"=>1,"i"=>1,"strike"=>1,"div"=>2,"u"=>1,"a"=>2,"em"=>1,"br"=>1,"strong"=>1,"blockquote"=>2,"tt"=>1,"li"=>1,"ol"=>1,"ul"=>1);

the "2" means extra tag content is allowed ie "font"=>2 should allow <font> and <font color>

anyway I will try and add them indivdually. If the site crashes it is the space between font and color.

Well, that was stupid.

It'd actually be <tr align> <tr valign> <td align> <td valign> etc., not <table align> and <table valign> tags.

It seems as though there's some confusion as to what constitutes a tag though if you need to specify all parameters to a tag in order to get it to work. Seems like a royal pain if you ask me -- it reminds me of some of the crap at work I have to deal with!

You could try retrieving the code and fixing it up outside of Nuke try and reloading it?

I think for all the effort it is fine as is.

Nope. Who knows what it's done with the original article I submitted.

And, I still can't find where you're making the adjustments. root config.php doesn't mean anything to me.
