Awesome Summer Opener!
Thanks to everyone who made it out for our first summer club race yesterday.  The weather was perfect and we had a great turnout!  Big thanks to Tiny W for making the trip from the Lower Mainland and to Cody W for travelling down from Nanaimo!

The track layout is slightly different this year and it seemed to work well.  Grip was pretty good for a totally green parking lot and we saw a lot of good racing throughout the day.  Everyone made the transition from carpet to asphalt very quickly.

TC Stock 21.5 was quite competitive at all levels, with Craig R being just a tick ahead of the field for the entire day.

Dan L showed some new pace, eventually making the A-Main which was great to see.

Phil C made an awesome last-corner pass on Gord W in a great race in the C-Main.  It was fun to watch that one.

All our newer drivers all ran super clean all day.  Matthew C and Austen F were the class of the field until Austen's steering failed at the very end of his main causing him to miss the bump-up.  Shout-out to Cameron H for completing his first ever pavement race!

Rob F was impressive in the Nitro main.  He's getting used to a new car and managed a hot lap only two-tenths slower than the TQ holder Dalyn S.

It was great to see Brian B running his Nitro car for the first time.  Honestly, just finishing all the races while getting faster each time is a big win in Nitro!

Gerry B was one to beat in large heat of USGT cars, and Jay J would take the win in a small group of Formula 1 cars.

Next Race is this Sunday, June 4
We are racing again this Sunday June 4.  We'll be running a full race program with three qualifiers, and mains.

Great Club Day!
Thanks to everyone who made it out for our club race yesterday.  The weather was perfect again and we had a large turnout with almost 30 cars in Touring Stock alone!  Big thanks to Doug and Doug for making the trip from Qualicum.

Excellent work to the entire club for an impressive track setup.  It took only 20 minutes which afforded us lots of practice time.  Teardown was super smooth as well.

One of the highlight runs had to be Doug B Jr and Kevin L during one of the round two qualifiers.  These two ran within feet of each other the entire run, with several clean passes for the lead, all in front of a large crowd of spectators.  That was really neat to see, and it was awesome that Kristine was there watching as well.

Sam L made his second IROCC start (first on asphalt) and did very well adapting to the different surface.

Another new racer, Alfie, made his first ever RC car race which was cool to see.  Paul Y setup Alfie with his spare car, and with absolutely no experience, and no practice, Alfie was on the track.  Fourteen year-olds catch on quick apparently, as Alfie did exceptionally well.  Thank you Paul for making that happen!

Big thanks to Gord W for calling a lot of the races, even while running two cars.  It is much appreciated.  Racing karma paid him back as he ran some of his best TC laps of his career, qualifying into the B-Main field.

Big shoutout to Chris B for qualifying 2nd overall in USGT.  Great work Chris!

Neil J and Phil C had good days, with Neil making it into the B-Main, and Phil finding his way into the A-Main with some clean running.

Finally, at the top of the sheets, the top three from indoor season seem to have carried over to the pavement, with Brian A, Craig R, and Nick F all vying for the TQs and Wins early in the summer season.

Next Race is this Sunday, June 11
We are racing again this Sunday June 11 and we'll be taking the following Sunday off for Father's Day (June 18).

Big Race Day!
Thanks to everyone who made it out for club racing yesterday.  The weather was perfect again and we had a really big turnout!  Big thanks to Edmond L, Jesse G, John T, and Tiny W for making the trip over from the lower mainland.  It's always fun racing with these guys.

Setup and teardown were top notch again, with everyone helping and working together efficiently.

The large turnout forced us into running some pretty full heats which was a bit of a test for everyone.  In general it went pretty smoothly, and we saw some good racing, especially in the mains.  I was quite impressed with how clean the nine car TC Nitro main ran.  Great job to Gord W on the mic calling all the nitro heats and getting all cars onto the grid properly.

Tiny was the class of the TC Stock field, setting TQ in round one and going on to a wire-to-wire win.  Nick F showed TQ pace in the third round but couldn't make it stick and ended up qualifying P2.

Glenn A had a great main, upgrading his 6th place qualifying position to a 2nd place overall finish, while JT rounded out the podium.

The highlight of the night was during one of the nitro heats when I looked up to see BOTH Mark L and Sue L pitting different nitro cars at the same time.  Dan L had graciously provided his spare nitro car to Sean B for the day, and apparently he included a pit person as part of the deal!

It was nice to see Adam B, Corey H (now Masters class), and Daryl J back on track after some time away.  All of them seemed to get back up to speed very quickly.

Shout out to Dayln S for attempting and completing a seven minute nitro main without refueling.  He ran out just as he crossed the finish line for 2nd place.  Perfect!

Next Race is Sunday, June 25
We are NOT racing on Father's Day (June 18).  Our next race is Sunday June 25th.

Fun Club Race Day!
Thanks to everyone who made it out for club racing yesterday.  The weather was perfect once again and we had another strong turnout.  Big thanks to Austin L, Livia L, Jesse G, John T, Keith Y, Nospoom S, and Tiny W for making the trip over from the lower mainland.  We also had Doug B and Doug B, and Jeff G and Nolan G make the trip down from up island which was great to see.

We stretched the program an hour or so to get all the heats in, but still finished up at a decent time.  Thank you everyone for helping with teardown which is not fun at the end of a long day in the sun.

Big shoutout to Brodie B who unfortunately missed most of his heats due to a broken car.  He was still out there corner marshalling all his heats, and helping out in other heats as well.  Thank you Brodie!

It was awesome to see Livia running so well!  She managed to make the bump-up out of the first main for some extra track time.  She was driving really well for a new racer still learning the ropes!

Nolan made his IROCC debut which was nice to see.  Now if only dad would spend a little more prep time on both their cars...!

Keith was Mr. Consistency as usual in TC, and was the racer to beat in that class.  Craig R set the fastest lap of the day, but couldn't quite match Keith's steady qualifying pace.  After the main, Keith would take the win, with Tiny in 2nd, and Nick F managed to squeak onto the podium.

Jesse was back on form with his TC after a tough outing at the last race which was nice to see.

In Nitro, JT had a quick car in the main and set the quick lap, and Nick turned some super fast laps with his dad's car.

In USGT, Tiny would take the win, with Gerry B and Rob F in tow.

The Formula 1 main featured some good racing between Adam B, Dan P, and Jay J.  It looked like it could be anyone's game for a while, but Adam's 150 years of racing experience propelled him to victory.

Next Race is Sunday, July 9
We are NOT racing next Sunday July 2.  Our next race is Sunday July 9th.

Fun Club Day!
Thanks to everyone who made it out for our club race yesterday.  We had a smaller turnout which meant for a more laid back race schedule which was nice.  Those who attended got some final practice before next weekend's Speed Weekend 2023 trophy race.

Brian B finally got both his cars sorted out with some help from cousin Jarrod H.  It was nice to Brian's electric car running good laps for the first time in a few weeks!

Speaking of Jarrod, he showed up with no practice, no racing in a year, and no fuel, and still ran super well in the Nitro class.  Always fun to see him at the track!

Shoutout to Corey H who was very quick all day!  Corey made the bump to the TC A-Main with some nice clean driving.

The TC A-Main was an interesting affair with multiple race leaders, all clipping dots and falling back.  TQ Nick F ran the fastest laps but made mistakes, which let both Gerry B and Tom Y have a chance at the lead.  Ultimately Tom would prevail after Gerry hit the same dot as Nick.

Doug B ran some fast laps in Nitro, finally putting his new car to use after shelving it a year ago.  The new car is quick!  Great work Doug.

Gerry was the racer to beat in Formula 1 with TQ and the overall win.  Craig R joined the class as well and showed some quick pace with the fastest single laps.  It should be an interesting class to watch next weekend!

Speed Weekend July 15-16
This coming weekend is our two-day Speed Weekend trophy race on July 15-16.  This race is a super fun event for everyone, of all skills levels, from novice to club pro.  We hope to see all club members participate and have some fun with us!

Now would be a good time to book an early ferry on the Saturday morning.  I don't normally book on the Sunday evening as it's not crazy busy and it's hard to know exactly when we'll be finished.

Great Club Day!
Thanks to everyone who made it out for our club race yesterday.  The weather was perfect and we had a LOT of new faces on the track which was awesome to see!

Kevin L ran some really smooth laps throughout the day in TC Stock.  His car looked really good this week!  Big thanks to Kevin for talking to a lot of spectators and sharing lots of information about IROCC with the public.

New racer Kevin M had a strong debut in the world of onroad RC, steadily getting faster each round.  Thanks to all the club members that helped him get up to speed!

Another new racer Shawn L bought a used car from a club member the morning of the race and did super well with it!  Shawn had run a couple races about ten years ago which seemed to pay dividends as he got back up to speed quite quickly.  Great to see!

Shoutout to new racer Myles L for wrenching on the two club cars and getting them race ready for the day.  He ran one of them himself, and the other went to a young man Theo for some practice laps at lunchtime, and a qualifying heat as well.  Both Myles and Theo ran super smooth for their first ever onroad experiences!

It was nice to see Dominic M out for his first ever pavement race with IROCC.  Thanks to those that leant a hand to get Dominic's battery situation sorted out!

Overall we had a great day with lots of new faces and smiles.

Next Race is Sunday, Aug 13
We are at the RRR Summer Challenge in Richmond this weekend.  Please join us if you can:
