New pan car??????
« on: March 11, 2010, 03:44:20 PM »
Good day!

Well it is new to me! I have an old Associated 10L that I  an going to give a shot at racing this summer. I am going to run with a 19 turn brushed motor and 2 SMC 4000 1 cell lipos in series. Could someone point me in the range of rollout I should shoot for? Is the weight 1200g? Any help or pointers would be great!

Thanks Neil.

Hey, Neil.

If you are using a hemi-K19 (komodo-based) and if it is in good shape, try around 32-34mm/rev. I used to run mine at 33mm/rev.

A Hemi-C or Chameleon can be geared a littler bigger like 38-42mm if you are smooth! It has lower RPM but bigger torque

Put a fan on it if you can otherwise you'll cook the brushes quite regularly.

My $0.02

I would use a stock motor for your 1st few weekends
I will be using my 13.5 or 17.5 to start out with

Thanks for the replies. I should have asked about what compound tires are a good starting piont. The car came with pinks all around.

The weight rule we used last summer was:  Minimum weight = 1200g

Last year the LiPo cars had to add some weight (50g-100g) to get up to 1200g, while the NiMH cars would struggle to get down to 1250g.

The weight rule this summer will likely be the same again.  1200g minimum.

Oppps forgot I run brushless45-50 mm would probably cook your motor pretty good. I beleive some associated guys were running green foams all the way around, I don't know about pinks all the way around but when traction was good pink rear with purple front was good when traction was hard to get white rear with black fronts never failed. Whites are very soft you would be lucky to get more than a full race day from them

I was running 4.5 in the rear and 5 in the front all year. 4.6 in the rear on days where I was feeling a little *zany*.

LOL. Tear as in cry?

J/K. I mean - how are you going to do this, anyway - don't you need a car? By that I mean a full car - you know 235mm?
