Improved solution for wide axle on CRC cars...
« on: May 24, 2010, 10:50:15 PM »
I know some guys are not really happy running the hub extensions, and neither am I, so I've been looking for a better approach.  In talking to John Stranahan, who designed the suspension package on my car, you can make things better by running an IRS wide axle, a CRC or Hyperdrive long diff side hub designed for offset pod oval cars, and some KSG spacers on the left side.  It's 1.5mm narrower each side than the extensions, most of which could be made up with axle shims but it's probably not serious considering the amount of tire involved.  John has all the stuff and is very good to deal with, http://www.stranahan-rc.com/Catalog_i11640356.html but you could also try Lefthander RC or other oval oriented places.

It's not perfect, a wide pod would be better, but is a step in the right direction.

It's kinda pricey, about $52 US all up, but I think I'm going to try it.
