Winter 2014/2015 Facility
« on: September 08, 2014, 03:03:52 AM »
Hi all,

We discussed this at the driver's meeting today, but here is a quick snapshot for those that were not there:

I have submitted an offer to lease a warehouse space in Langford from October 2014 - May 2015 (inclusive).  The landlord of the building has agreed to my offer and signed the documents.  There are some conditions (I have to get insurance, and the landlord has to show me his heating plan for the space) that must be removed before it's official and that is what I am working on now.

The idea will be to have a permanent type track setup for both IROCC and COR.  Ideally the two tracks can co-exist beside one another, but in the worst case, the offroad setup will go on top of the ozite during offroad days.

So, this will give us more opportunity to race, with less setup/teardown.  We'll run IROCC club races on Saturday night and COR club races on Sunday afternoons.  Note that the exact schedule has not yet been set.  Additionally, we'll have a practice night during the week for those that want to come out in the evening and get some laps in.

I will be forming a small business, Matrix Hobbies, which will hold the lease.  Expect race fees in-line with current IROCC fees and expect a race program similar to IROCC's usual indoor program but with the addition of a Touring Stock class.  Matrix Hobbies will also provide onsite support of tires, parts, batteries, and other consumables.  This will be made possible through a partnership with NRC and their supply chain.

More info to come.

SUPER excited!

hopefully we have enough room in there to have both tracks setup at all times. then i suppose there isn't really any reason we couldn't go on cor days to test/tune and vice versa. almost 4 days of potential track time.
excellent chance to run in classes we don't run, but run at big events.

Are you thinking about doing a monthly member ship for both clubs?  would make it easier?

Cor membership is only $40.00 a year you can't get any easier I believe IROCC works out to about the same if
You add the winter and summer together

It's an interesting idea for sure - and it would be simpler.  I will run some numbers and see what I can come up with.

I would rather pay 1 time rather than paying every race day. That would be good.

Hey all,

Just a heads up that Langford is being a little sticky with my usage of the warehouse.  They want additional emergency lights added to one of the walls.  Anyone have any experience wiring this up?  It appears you can get the light/battery units from Home Depot for about $80 each.  But they need to be hardwired into a circuit....  Anyone here have the qualifications to do this?

Thanks,
Blake

Post this on COR's site as well, some electricians in the club.
