Great Club Day!
Thanks to everyone who made it out for our club race yesterday.  The weather was perfect and we had a LOT of new faces on the track which was awesome to see!

Kevin L ran some really smooth laps throughout the day in TC Stock.  His car looked really good this week!  Big thanks to Kevin for talking to a lot of spectators and sharing lots of information about IROCC with the public.

New racer Kevin M had a strong debut in the world of onroad RC, steadily getting faster each round.  Thanks to all the club members that helped him get up to speed!

Another new racer Shawn L bought a used car from a club member the morning of the race and did super well with it!  Shawn had run a couple races about ten years ago which seemed to pay dividends as he got back up to speed quite quickly.  Great to see!

Shoutout to new racer Myles L for wrenching on the two club cars and getting them race ready for the day.  He ran one of them himself, and the other went to a young man Theo for some practice laps at lunchtime, and a qualifying heat as well.  Both Myles and Theo ran super smooth for their first ever onroad experiences!

It was nice to see Dominic M out for his first ever pavement race with IROCC.  Thanks to those that leant a hand to get Dominic's battery situation sorted out!

Overall we had a great day with lots of new faces and smiles.

Next Race is Sunday, Aug 13

Check out this awesome video of the Speed Weekend 2023 Nitro main created by Allen Jurisic of Canada Hobbies.  It really gives a good view into how a nitro main plays out, from the start, to the racing, to the pit stops.

Ferry
Now would be a good time to book an early ferry on the Saturday morning.  I don't normally book on the Sunday evening as it's not crazy busy and it's hard to know exactly when we'll be finished.

Speed Weekend 2023 Recap
IROCC's Speed Weekend 2023 is in the books and it was a great event once again!  Massive thank you to all the racers that attended.  The support we received from the RRR club was phenomenal and really makes this race.  The long distance awards go to Jason Mardon and Luke Pittman, both coming from the BC interior which was awesome to see.

Shout Outs
-Big thank you to Tom Younger and Gorden Wood for calling a lot of the races and keeping the schedule moving all weekend.  We also leaned heavily on Brian Ashmore to organize the raffles and door prizes.  Finally, thank you to all the club members that came out on Friday to build the track!

Canada Hobbies
Our event sponsor, Canada Hobbies, stepped up in a big way to provide door prizes and two separate raffle prizes as well!  Thank you so much to Allen Jurisic, Dan Pudwell, and Sam Lowden for supporting our event!

JT and Luke
John Tsang and Luke Pittman were the winners of the two Canada Hobbies raffle prizes.  Both these guys decided to pay it forward by donating their prizes to randomized lucky recipients.  Thanks very much guys!  I also wanted to acknowledge the hours of time Luke spent helping many other racers on the Saturday night practice session and throughout the weekend.  A lot of racers will have picked up new knowledge because of this.

Racing Notables
Once again we saw some great racing in all classes, and most of them came down to the A3 main to determine the winner.  Congrats to Tiny Welch for prevailing in the deep TC Stock class.  This one went to A3 with a few possible winners, but Tiny got it done.

It was awesome to see Avery Baird's Nitro TC debut go so well.  He bumped out of the B-Main after a very close 20 minute battle with Dan Lester.

Jesse Galang bumped Rob F off the top spot in USGT this year but it came down to A3 to finalize.

There were lots of great races so check the videos and results below.

Huge thank you to JT for recording video of all the mains:

Fun Club Day!
Thanks to everyone who made it out for our club race yesterday.  We had a smaller turnout which meant for a more laid back race schedule which was nice.  Those who attended got some final practice before next weekend's Speed Weekend 2023 trophy race.

Brian B finally got both his cars sorted out with some help from cousin Jarrod H.  It was nice to Brian's electric car running good laps for the first time in a few weeks!

Speaking of Jarrod, he showed up with no practice, no racing in a year, and no fuel, and still ran super well in the Nitro class.  Always fun to see him at the track!

Shoutout to Corey H who was very quick all day!  Corey made the bump to the TC A-Main with some nice clean driving.

The TC A-Main was an interesting affair with multiple race leaders, all clipping dots and falling back.  TQ Nick F ran the fastest laps but made mistakes, which let both Gerry B and Tom Y have a chance at the lead.  Ultimately Tom would prevail after Gerry hit the same dot as Nick.

Doug B ran some fast laps in Nitro, finally putting his new car to use after shelving it a year ago.  The new car is quick!  Great work Doug.

Gerry was the racer to beat in Formula 1 with TQ and the overall win.  Craig R joined the class as well and showed some quick pace with the fastest single laps.  It should be an interesting class to watch next weekend!

Speed Weekend July 15-16
This coming weekend is our two-day Speed Weekend trophy race on July 15-16.  This race is a super fun event for everyone, of all skills levels, from novice to club pro.  We hope to see all club members participate and have some fun with us!

Fun Club Race Day!
Thanks to everyone who made it out for club racing yesterday.  The weather was perfect once again and we had another strong turnout.  Big thanks to Austin L, Livia L, Jesse G, John T, Keith Y, Nospoom S, and Tiny W for making the trip over from the lower mainland.  We also had Doug B and Doug B, and Jeff G and Nolan G make the trip down from up island which was great to see.

We stretched the program an hour or so to get all the heats in, but still finished up at a decent time.  Thank you everyone for helping with teardown which is not fun at the end of a long day in the sun.

Big shoutout to Brodie B who unfortunately missed most of his heats due to a broken car.  He was still out there corner marshalling all his heats, and helping out in other heats as well.  Thank you Brodie!

It was awesome to see Livia running so well!  She managed to make the bump-up out of the first main for some extra track time.  She was driving really well for a new racer still learning the ropes!

Nolan made his IROCC debut which was nice to see.  Now if only dad would spend a little more prep time on both their cars...!

Keith was Mr. Consistency as usual in TC, and was the racer to beat in that class.  Craig R set the fastest lap of the day, but couldn't quite match Keith's steady qualifying pace.  After the main, Keith would take the win, with Tiny in 2nd, and Nick F managed to squeak onto the podium.

Jesse was back on form with his TC after a tough outing at the last race which was nice to see.

In Nitro, JT had a quick car in the main and set the quick lap, and Nick turned some super fast laps with his dad's car.

In USGT, Tiny would take the win, with Gerry B and Rob F in tow.

The Formula 1 main featured some good racing between Adam B, Dan P, and Jay J.  It looked like it could be anyone's game for a while, but Adam's 150 years of racing experience propelled him to victory.

Next Race is Sunday, July 9
We are NOT racing next Sunday July 2.  Our next race is Sunday July 9th.
