Club Voltage Regulators for 1/12 LiPo
« on: September 25, 2009, 10:36:30 AM »
Hey, guys.

With luck the voltage regulators will be in today since they left Richmond last night via UPS. Landed cost for the TQ booster is $26.75. Please bring exact change this weekend. If you are using 3.7v LiPo this year you will need a booster or receiver pack. 25 units were ordered but they only had enough to provide 20. The remaining 5 will be shipped once switches have been received and assembled.

For those of you running Tekin RS and RS Pro speedos, make sure your esc firmware is up-to-date since it has the 3.7 volt LiPo functionality on the setup interface with newer versions. You can download version 3.25 firmware for free directly from Tekin using your Hotwire.

Sorry I'm confused. I thought we need a 3.7 lipo battery ,which craig has, and a regulator which was $5 the same as gord had.???????
Now we need a lipo and regulator and this thing you have.

You need a 3.7V LiPo battery (Craig has them) and a Voltage Booster (Phil will have them).

The voltage boosters are $26.75, but are Canadian, higher qualiy, and AVAILABLE, unlike the Hong Kong $10 models that Gord has.  Oh, and they come with a switch so you can turn your car off without having to disconnect the main battery pack.

Bring money on Sunday.

Hope that helps,
Blake

From what I've seen, it looks like Gord's unit is NOT a regulator -- just a voltage booster.

I'm not sure about the units we're getting, but a regulator is a way better approach than just a simple booster.  I'd hope for the price difference we'll be getting a regulator.

Hi, all.

Tom is correct. Further, TQ and Novak were the only ones recommended to us by Tekin. The others were not and I trust Tekin and don't want to hoop my esc or car due to a non-recommended part. If you don't want the TQ booster you can always try to run something different, cheaper and not recommended. The owner is Canadian, too, which is cool for those who like to support Canadian businesses.

BTW, first come, first served.

Sorry. Just to be clear, I don't know the specifics of what is in the magic TQ Booster (nor the Novak) box or how it works. All I do know is that it was widely popular at the IIC in Vegas, recommended by my speedo manufacturer and the producer of the booster is now sold out and awaiting tear down parts.

Hey, everyone.

Looks like the units will not arrive this weekend. Turns out that there was a bush fire that required trucks to be re-routed so our shipment was sent back to the depot and is rescheduled for Monday. We'll need to figure out some quick and painless way to get everyone the transponders ASAP when they arrive so that you can install and test them. I'll check with folks this weekend.

Tx.

Hi, Guys.

Voltage regulators are in. I will be at the Royal Oak Tim Horton's on Wednesday night at 7:30 for distribution and payment. I have a hectic work schedule over the next couple of weeks which takes me off the island frequently and I was hoping to hook up when the carpet is being moved but can't guarantee that I will be back in town to do that as much as I would have liked to. I have this on my personal cc, so please arrange with someone to pay for you if you can't make it. In fairness I will be using Daryl's list of names of people who bought club batteries as the priority list. After that it's first come, first served. We ordered 25 but only 20 were shipped and the others are backordered waiting for switches.

See you Wednesday.

For those of you who didn't get batteries on Sunday, I will be at Tim's on Wed. evening as well. So you will be able to pick up both your voltage regulator and battery at the same time.

Hey, Guys.

The TQ Boosters are all gone. I just heard back from them and new switches are due in next week so I have ordered 10 more. PM if you want one. 5 are already spoken for.

BTW, there were a number of people who ordered LiPo for 1/12 who did not pick up a booster (John, Mark, Don, Andrew, Trevor, Keith). If you have a booster, great. If not, please chime in ASAP. There were also some guys who wanted more than one and we essentially went 1:1 when we handed them out. If you want your second, LMK.

I have not picked up my battery yet but I will need a booster to go with it.
