Associated Mechanical Speed Controller
« on: September 02, 2005, 05:08:07 PM »
Hello

I am restoring a couple of old school gold tub RC10 buggies.

Does anyone have an old speedo in good enough shape to bolt into a shelf racer? doesnt need to work obviously just look OK.

I could also really use some 1200 or other old school 6-cell packs and old associated electric motors, even an empty can is ok as long as the label is still on it.

I'll trade you for lunch

peace

I should have all that crap lying around in my parents basement, if they haven't shipped it off to the dump yet.

Does it have to be TA stuff?  I may have a MSC but its not Associated...

The Associated MSC was a distinctive speed controller.  It was a green wire-wound variable resistor, so it had something like 15 speeds forward, and 5 or so braking levels.  Most other mechanical speed controllers are either 3 speeds forwards and reverse; very few others are variable resistors like the Associated one, and all the other similar ones I've seen that weren't Associated have been brown.

Yah; they had different values for the off-road car and for 1/12 scale cars as well (for obvious reasons); now that I think of it, I think the brown one I mentioned was an Associated 1/12 scale model.

Do you need the Associated battery charger?  Now that was a real piece of work. . .
