Club racing this Sunday Aug 11, 2024

We are club racing this Sunday August 11th at the Park and Ride.  We'll be running a full race program with three qualifiers, and mains.

Track setup will begin at 9:30am.  All racers are expected to help with track setup.

*** We've been trying to get an update from Colwood for the last two weeks but they seem to be on summer vacation.  Does anyone near the track have any info on the state of the parking lot?  Is it still operational for us?

See you Sunday!

Great Club Day!
Thanks to everyone who made it out for racing Sunday.  The weather was interesting with a couple light sprinkles throughout the first round of qualifying.  In one heat, lap-times started on pace at 12 seconds, then went to 22 seconds mid-way through, and finally back to 12 seconds by the end of the five minute run.

Big thanks to Jesse G for making the trip over from the Lower Mainland!  Always fun racing with Jesse.

The TC Stock class continues to be really competitive throughout the field, but in particular among the top ten racers.  Each week it seems like someone different is a little quicker than their peers.  This week it would be Carter H who put together a great qual #3 to take the TQ, and then followed it up with a wire-to-wire win in the A-Main.  Congratulations Carter!

Dougie B deserves a mention here as he was running for the first time this summer and he qualified himself into the B-Main where he would finish 4th.  Nice performance Doug!  He might need to give some pointers to his dad at the next race.

Brodie B and Matthew C had some good runs throughout the day as they both continue to run faster and faster.  Awesome to see!

Dale S was running very well and managed to take the bump out of the USGT B-Main.  Keep it up Dale.

It was nice to see Colton W and Shaun W on the track for their first ever IROCC pavement racing!

Next Race is Sunday, August 11
We are taking next Sunday off (July 28), and many of us will be at the RRR Summer Challenge on Aug 3-4.  Our next local club race is Sunday August 11th.

*** 1) We are looking for donations for our club cars: old ESCs, old servos, old batteries, old Spektrum receivers.  If you have any of this stuff collecting dust, please bring it to the track and give it to Rob F.

*** 2) If anyone needs their FIRST set of TC tires from the club, please buy it this Sunday or let us know to hold it for you.  After that, we will be opening up the tires to people looking for additional sets.

Fun Club Day!
Thanks to everyone who made it out for racing Sunday.  The weather was nice and we had a fun day of racing.  Big thanks to Ross D for making another trip over from Chilliwack to join us for racing.  That is an early start to the day!

The TC Stock class was once again very competitive with some of our usual top dogs searching for answers.  Coming off a win last week, Gerry B set TQ this week but would make a couple small errors in the main, allowing Nick F, Avery B, and Dalyn S to have a shot at the top spot.  Nick made a mistake and Avery took over the lead and would run clean to the end with Dayln just 0.4s back at the line.

Huge shoutout to Sue L for setting a personal best run in the qualifiers!  She was running well all day and managed to best her previous total by a lap.

We had lots of cars in USGT Scale Spec, including some new entries to the class, Brian A and Jay J.  Qualifying was a bit tough in this one with nine cars of varying speeds.  Veteran racers need to anticipate what can happen in these conditions and new racers will do their best to allow faster cars through.  This class was quite competitive with 5-6 cars all at a pace that could have TQed and/or won.  Brian, Corey H, Daryl J, Jay J, Phil C, and Rob F all ran with pace to win, but Jay would get it done in the main with a nice clean run.

Congrats to Dalyn for taking home the win in the Nitro main, and to Carter H for delivering a super quick stop to keep Dalyn out front.  Solid effort.

In Formula 1, although everyone is getting faster each week, no one has solved Adam B's speed and consistency.  Adam uses a couple of drops of Pacer After Run oil on his commutator for those extra tenths.

Next Race is Sunday, July 21
We are going to take advantage of the weather and the parking lot and go for three in a row.  Our next race is this Sunday July 21st.

Epic Club Day!
Thanks to everyone who made it out for racing Sunday.  The weather was hot, the grip was high, and we saw some very close racing throughout the day.  Big thank you to John T, Edmond L, and Ross D for making the trip over from the Lower Mainland!  And to Doug Smith who made his first IROCC race in eight years after relocating to Northern BC.  It was great to see Doug again and he will have his nitro car the next time he comes down.

The TC Stock division was really stacked with not much differentiation between the A and the B groups.  It's actually getting tricky to pre-sort them.

Gerry B turned in a master class performance in the A-Main.  Starting from 2nd he setup and executed a great pass on TQ Edmond L and he never looked back.  He was one of the top two cars all day long and he capped it off with the W!

Big thank you to John T for spending a LOT of time helping other racers with their nitro cars.  This is much appreciated, and also no surprise for a professional like JT.  He barely had time to eat his BBQ platter.

The Nitro main saw a side-by-side pit shootout between Tom Y and Edmond L which actually impacted the result of the race.  Tom held court with one of his quickest efforts.

Scale Spec saw the return of both Daryl J and Rob F after lengthy vacations.  These two had some good runs, but ultimately it would be Daryl who ran the cleanest and would take the TQ and win ahead of Gerry and Rob.

Adam B kept his stranglehold on the Formula 1 class, but Gorden W had his car working quite well and secured an impressive 2nd place.

A lot happened so don't feel bad if you didn't get a shoutout.  Writers wanted.

Pics stolen from JT.

Next Race is Sunday, July 14
We are racing again this Sunday July 14th.  There is a possibility we may see some of our RRR friends returning for more fun.

Club racing this Sunday July 7, 2024

We are club racing this Sunday July 7th at the Park and Ride.  We'll be running a full race program with three qualifiers, and mains.  The forecast is hot so be sure to bring sunscreen and water.

Track setup will begin at 9:30am.  All racers are expected to help with track setup.

We are expecting a couple friends from RRR to join us.  If someone could bring a spare folding chair, and also donate some tent space, that would be awesome.

Fun Club Day!
Thanks to everyone who made it out for racing Sunday.  The weather was a little windy but it was sunny/dry and we had a fun day of racing.

The TC Stock A-Main was the race of the day with a really close race between the top four cars.  Everyone stayed clean and Craig R would take the win after Dalyn S made a small mistake near the end of the race.

Shoutout to Gord W for qualifying into the B-Main!  His TC was looking good all day and he put in one of his best TC performances!

Thanks to Jes M for joining us for the race day.  This was Jes' first outdoor onroad event and he did super well running both TC and Formula 1.

Corey H, Joe F, and Neil J all showed strong pace throughout the day as well.  Great to see!  In the absence of Rob F, Corey took TQ in USGT but Gerry B got things together in the main and secured the win.

We had nine Formula 1 cars entered although a few of them had technical difficulties.  Manufacturers prioritized speed over reliability this year it appears.  Jay J owned qualifying and it wasn't particularly close.  Unfortunately he broke a kingpin in the main which let perennial favorite Adam B cruise to an easy victory for team Ferrari.

Dalyn S took the win in Nitro in his first summer race of the season.  Also, watching him wheel Craig R's 1/8 Scale after teardown was awesome.  Someone needs to lend him a car for RRR.

It was great to see Sam L out there in the Nitro class!  Big thanks to Carter H for helping him with his engine tuning.

Next Race is Sunday, July 7
We are NOT racing on the Canada Day long weekend.  Our next race is Sunday July 7th.
