2nd club raffle car kit still for sale(new price however)
« on: September 02, 2005, 06:08:16 PM »
Hello all,
Well as you are probably all aware my buddy has had no luck selling his kit for 650, 450 or even 350dollars.  He is desperate and is willing to go as low as 250.00 dollars
For those of you unaware it is the RTR TC4 kit in addition to that is a 17x2 motor a venom 3000 stick pack, an MRC 969 charger and a set of street tires.
Please let me know if you or someone you know may be interested
Thanx

Maybe the club should be willing to buy it off him for $200 or something like that so we can raffle it off again, and in the future offer either $200.00 cash or the kit.

...Assuming it hasn't been run yet though; just like a real car, as soon as it leaves the lot, it's lost a huge portion of its value.

Tom,
The RTR kit is brand new, never even been out of the box(except when IROCC put it together) the charger and battey are 3 and 4 months old.
Someone I know has traded some parts off the car(giving the owner some money and exchange parts) in theory the kit is still complete just not IROCC raceway ready anymore.
250.00 is still a great deal, if you want to start with a new car,

Although you still need to by tires, wheels, inserts and a motor at least to race it.  A decent battery would help too...

I dont think any of us should buy it off him at all. Let him keep it, his big idea of making big cash didnt work so tell him to sell it on Ebay. We tried when he first got it & he didnt want it then, so why now?

Hey guys don't shoot the messenger!
The seller will never even read any of your comments so regardless of what you have to say he will continue to try and sell his prize. I believe if anyone of us entered into a draw for somthing valued at a specific amount, then in a fortunate turn of events actually found ourselves winning, would you not try and sell the item for the amount that you were told it was worth?  Paul originally entered not to win but to support our club.  When he originally bought the raffle ticket I ran through the list of items and gave him a figure of what the equipment would be worth new.  When he realized he was not going to race his prize he decided to sell it for the amount that(just slightly less than new) I figured he should be able to get for it.  Most of you make it sound like if you had a winning lottery ticket, and the lottery coop. offered you 1/2 of the value for the ticket that you would take it and be happy. Wrong.  I do not blame my friend for wanting to sell it for the price it was worth originally, however from what I have read and by word of mouth I have convinced him to drop his price substantually.
So what I would appreciate is any further comments made under this thread to be about the sale or trade of specifically this TC4 item. If you want to continue to complain about the posistive and negative aspects of raffles and the capitalize found in the world today I would suggest that you may want to start your own thread.
Thanx

well then i guess it was your miss understanding!.......that a ready to run tc4  could get you that kind of money, im sure he doesnt know anything and just going on your advice.........so in actual fact you are not just the messenger you set the price and well from what you see go on at the track you would see that there is nobody around our club would pay that kind of money for that kind of car  and really if you think about rc eqipment........none  of it holds its value weather it hasnt been used or not .....

Then why is this even an issue?  If he wanted to support the club he would have given the car back....  The bottom line is he wanted to get rich off a $2 ticket and it backfired.  Would you buy a bike off me for $700 when you knew I only paid $2 for it?  Most people are offended when someone tries to make a buck off a prize they won esp when its almost retail value they are asking.  Doesn't matter what it is.  So when you see people making comments on it that's thier right.  No one has been rude or offensive.  Its just a forum for discusion.  I don't think anyone has a problem with him trying to get something out of it that he can use (eg $$$) but its the trying to wring every last penny out that ticks most people off.

If he had kept the car complete he would have had a decent chance of selling it as long as he kept the price down.  Now a potential buyer has to add parts just to get it going.  No offence but I think at this point the only person to benifit on this deal was the guy you know getting the jammy bits for his car.

If anyone new was getting into the club and was gonna buy a new setup I definately wouldn't recomend getting an Associated car when the X-Ray is so much better.  The season is almost over and next year a TC4 is gonna be an even tougher sell - new or not.  Would you go out and buy a new TC3 at retail value?  Not unless cost was the main factor and if thats the case used is the best route anyhow.  Them's the facts...
