Hi, folks.

Anyone know if there is a rainout plan for Vancouver? Weather is not looking so hot for both days. I have emailed Chuck to ask him but nothing back yet. If anyone knows, please advise. Tx.

Phil

Dont take this the wrong way but last time I went to check out the race in Langley it was pouring with rain, no-one in sight. I came back on the 2 PM ferry to find you guys running a full race day in great weather and you guys didnt even know there had been a chance of rain.

That said, I am still going no matter what the weather channel says.

Jody

PS. the forecast for our speed weekend race that we pulled off (almost completely without a weather hitch) also called for lots of rain. If all the vancouver guys based thier decision on the forecast we would have had a "pour" turnout...

hey jim ya it did rain out the last of the 19t 3x a-mains, but it did very litely sprinkle on and off all  day, it was fun other than the unorganization, of it all, im shure blake or someone else could do a better write up than me, writing is not my strong point.

19t finished all 3 AAA mains i thought cause it was the stock AAA mains that only ran 2 and there was no a-main for nitro, rained massively near the end

I asked for the result but they didn't have them on hand.  Maybe they are the same place the results from Saturday went....

format c: ....

They didn't hand out a lot of hardware.  Craig took Stock and Stock TQ IIRC and I think Gerry had Concourse and Keith took third in Sportsman and that was it for IROCC...

It was a fun trip.  The track was really unforgiving - no give anywhere so a little bump in the wall usually meant game over.  They did have some nice big round corners which made great jumps for barrel rolls....

I think Blake got 4th in 19-turn; I did pretty bad, I forgot to put my O-ring on my battery for the 3rd main, so it fell out around the half-way point when I clipped one of those round corner things.  I was in 3rd I think at the time, but I had bad luck in the 1st main and was slow in the 2nd main, so I wasn't going to finish well anyway.

Nick Fantetti had a big lead in the 19-turn B main, but he dumped and Daryl took it by a foot at the line.

Craig blew out 1st gear in his nitro car in the B main, and he had a big lead at the time.  It was only a few minutes in though.

Jody broke right at the beginning of the Nitro C.

In stock, we only managed to run 2 mains.  Craig pulled off the win in one and 2nd in the other.  I got third in both.  So I got 3rd, Craig 2nd, and the other guy 1st, because he had the TQ.  I think that's how it went; Craig might have ended up with the TQ and 1st; I can't remember.

The nitro A didn't run, so Blake didn't run his gas car in the main.

There's a bunch more people who ran, but I'm not sure where everyone finished.  The VMAR guys said they'd post a big write-up about the race and link to it from our forums, so be patient and give them a chance -- I know what it takes to do a race write-up!

Just so you can make sense of what I wrote, electric had tripple A-mains, but we only managed to run all of them for 19-turn, and only 2 of the 3 for stock.

Don't give 'em too hard of a time; it's hard running a big race!

It was quite a weekend!  There were about 80 entries which was quite good.  Lots of people missed the Saturday which caused some confusion on the Sunday morning.  This, coupled with drizzling weather Sunday morning, meant for a very delayed race schedule.

In the end, three rounds of qualifying were run on Saturday (hot and sunny all day), and one round of qualifying was run on Sunday.  The "resorting" process was not executed as per the textbook which was quite unusual.

Chuck, Mario, Ray, and Trent had their hands full all weekend.  These four are the heart and soul of VMAR and could desperately do with some help from the rest of the membership.  These guys have an awesome attitude toward building up the R/C scene in Vancouver.  Unfortunately they don't get a whole lot of support from anyone else.  I can't imagine us trying to throw a large scale race without EVERYONE taking a role as they did during Speed Weekend 2005.

IROCC highlights that I can remember:

Gerry won concourse
Craig TQed and won Stock.
Tom took 3rd in Stock.
I took 3rd in 19T.
Daryl edged Nick Fantetti by six inches for the B-Main win in 19T.
I took 5th in Gas based on qualifying (the main was not run)

Non IROCC highlights:

Dave Palmer donated most of his Sunday to calling the races
Frank won 19T in dominating fashion
Korgae won Modified
Mike Middlestead won Gas based on qualifying (the main was not run)

Oh, and thanks to Wendys for the several kilo-watt hours we borrowed!
