Touring Stock, Rubber Tires = 1500g
Touring 19 Turn Foam and Touring Mod Foam = 1418g
12 Scale Stock and 12th Scale 19 Turn = 795g

Hey IROCCers,

After discussions last night, it sounds like we have the makings of a small road trip for this race.  So far the following racers have semi-committed to going:

Blake
Craig
Daryl
Glenn

Are there any others that might be interested in joining in on the action?

Obviously they are racing 12th Scale, but to be honest, the Touring Car classes will likely be the most popular.  Not sure what the Pro10 turnout might be like.

Since I hate going on road trips just to race against the people I see every weekend, I am planning on running whichever 12th Scale class is the most popular, and then I'll run my Touring Car in the 19T/13.5 class (very likely to be the most popular class at the event).

Costs for this trip should be relatively low since we can likely stay at the Ranchland for a good rate in the winter, and us Islanders get in the door for $35 no matter how many classes we're racing.  Once we have final numbers, we can start to figure out carpooling.  Since we don't need tables/chairs/tents/generators, we could technically fit six people in my van or five in Daryl's truck.  The "sardine" approach would be the cheapest option obviously for gas/ferry.

So, again, is anyone else interested in coming along?

Cool, sounds good Gord.

Brian Ashmore may be interested in coming along on the trip as well.  He would be driving his truck and bringing Tina along as they have some friends in Kamloops.

We can finalize everything and arrange the car pooling at racing this Saturday.

Also, we'll want to figure out what classes everyone wants to run so that we can give Brent a heads up.

Ranchland Hotel booked for Friday and Saturday nights.  I asked very explicitly for all rooms to be on the ground floor.

Two bed bedroom for Blake and Daryl = $65/night
Two bed bedroom for Craig and Glenn = $65/night
One bed bedroom for Gord = $59/night

These are the cheapest rates for a hotel that we can trust.  All the other hotels in the sub $100 range have bed bugs according to the reviews.  Reminds me of these choice reviews of our favourite Rome NY hotel:

"Not Fit For A King Or Dog!!!"
"Worst Hotel Experience Ever"
"Stay away"

It was a good race.  45 racers, making up 98 entries was not too bad, and the race organization was solid with Doug Papka running the program.  There was a decent 12th Scale showing too, with five heats of 12th Scale split between Stock and 19T.  Lots of familiar faces of course, with the largest showing from Vancouver.  Gotta hand it to those guys.

Awesome venue, in the middle of an indoor running track in the city's monster recreation center.  Lots of people running around to watch the races, and even some grandstands for those that decided to sit for a while.

It was very cold in Kamloops for us coasties, but Earls was there to warm us up at night.  One tank of diesel for the entire trip, and a record 3-hour drive back to Tsawwassen, just to find that the 7PM boat was already sold out.  Oh, well at least there were no speeding tickets.

One tank of diesel, not bad. The tank is supposed to hold 135L but I managed to get 140L into it after we dropped Blake off. Mileage wasn't to good on the way down from Kamloops since the cruise control was set at 130+.
