during the winter indoor season we should set up a offroad racing type thing eh?
Sounds like a good idea but it will be difficult to execute. First off most guys interested in running all have different trucks or buggies. Running all the different classes will pretty much seal the deal for failure. Everyone will have to run a single class (eg 2WD 1/10th scale buggies, etc) with a single class of motor (eg 27T stock). Second the exposure is minimal unlike our current on-road situation. Don't get me wrong - I'd love to see some off-road racing but it will be difficult to get going even with a location available.
if we can pull it off we can put groups togather like 19 turn 27 turn and nitro and just forget about the types of vehicles just go out and have fun
un limited nitro truck class
un limited electric 27turn class
un limited electric 19 turn class
un limited brushless class
Go for it....
thanks for your support
anyone willing to help i have a spot i think would make a great track il take some pics and have them posted soon post if willing to help
I think Dave Payne has a place already - talk to him.
i will help start an off road club , does any one have a place to have a track i am looking for a site. i have been on the bmx track but it is not set up for us .i would like to find some one or the municipality to donate a small pice of land that we can use ,does any one have any ideas. if you see any land that i can ask the municipality to use for our own r/c park , i will look in to it , it would be nice if it had access to power and water so we can set up a sprinkler system to keep the dust down. e-mail me
If your serious about it, i think you should aprotch Juen de fua rec as they have a lot of land and RC is the second largest user of the BMXtrack. I have chatted with the grounds people many times (monday morning used it be rc time) and they always seem down with the idea and they have serjested spots. JDF seem to be the best chance of a non privite track area as they seem to like to support things like this.

There is also a nice plot of land in sidney next to the legion that the city has alowed some dirt jumps, that would be a good one
out here in sooke there is the old mulligans golf corse thats shut down we can approach the board asking for a small part of the soon to be greenspace for publick use and off to the side we can have a rc track
i was thinkin about that gravel mart thats on mechosin road that there shutting down, thesres alot of space just sittin there empty, i dont know who actually owns that place but maybe they could let us have a small chunk in the corner or somethin. maybe 130x200?

My two cents is the KISS principle, which seems to work for the on road stuff just fine.
- 1/8th / any body / 4wd only / no engine bigger than 0.28
- 1/10th / any body / 4 wd only / no engine bigger than 0.18
- 1/18th / any body / 2 wd only / 19 T brushed / no Li-Po
I don't know what really makes the most sense, given what "most" of the locals run, the above is just a quick thought.
As a new guy jumping in somewhat heavily to the on road side, I was reassured in knowing that 1) the playing field was as level as possible 2) the equipment I bought this season wouldn't suddenly be outlawed next season (ie, 1/10th to 1/8th only). I can only speak for myself, but I aint touching off road competitively until those two criteria are squared away. Given my current situation and geography, I may never run off road so there is that as well to this rant.
Like I said, just one man's opinion.
