Title: 20 min mains (Off-Road)
Post by: Gorden on April 28, 2008, 11:27:12 AM
I was reading on the Off-Road section on Racetec how some tracks are now having Nitro and Brushless in the same 20 min main using a 6000mah cells or higher. this would be cool if the cells would fit in the TC cars and we could run in the 20 min mains with our nitro cars.

But there are problems the Nitro guys don't like it as they still need to pit for gas and the other guys don't

I don't know how fast brushless is but in the item I was reading they were using around a 7 turn brushless motors and they were doing alright All I'm saying is How nice it would be to run 20 min electric mains

The series I know of that mixes these classes forces the electric vehicles to spend time in the pits.

PS onroad brushless systems seem to thermal so bloody often in 5 minutes, I wish them luck in a 20 minute race.

You have to rember the offroad  buggy that are running with the nitro. are 8 scale electric conversions.   so there pretty much a the same but lighter.  and faster with electric.  they are also making them do one stop and go in the pit.  to equal the nitro guys.  in that aspect.

so you have is an 8 scale buggy and truggy with a 3 or 4 cell lipo.  instead of a fuel tank.  and a esc and brushless motor.  not the same what we use in 10 scale or 12 scale.  but specific to 8scale.  there pretty neat setups.  the guy are going faster and jumping further with electric then the nitro.  with out the mess that nitro brings.
