where do we start for brushless??? i have new tires with a 78 spur and 31 pinion and that rolls me out at about 56.19 is this in the ball park?
From some of the reading I've done on RCTech and TeamCRC.com, you'll need to go higher than that.
CRC's John Firsching recommended about 76mm to someone asking the same question about 17.5BL at the CRC track. Seems insane, but I guess these motors have zero RPM and ridiculous torque.

with a 78 spure to get in the 76 area i would need a 42 tooth pinion :o do they make theese?and would it even fit in my car? if the spur was much smaller id be running on the diff rings
Hey, Guys.
I'm looking into it with Corally USA. I have a shipment en route but sans pinions. I have to put in another order on Wed so I will ask what is what.
Yeah, the 17.5 revs only approx 11,000 RPM at 7.4 as opposed to 28K+ with a 27T. Silly. I suppose we'll see some bulkhead mods coming out, too, since stripping spurs is a real issue and we'll need to see more room for larger spur/pinion combos to get the ratio right for the pitch.

Yeah, there are really big pinions available. I remember Frank talking about his oval guys running 60 tooth pinions....
Have a look at this pic from the Vegas race this year. That is what I'm talking about:

I have on my car a 78spur and I put on a 43 tooth pinon
(see photo) with my tires @ 46.8 (new tires) my roll out is 81.05 to get in the 76 area I need to use a 40 tooth pinon for 75.4. I also bought some Xray parts for a custom shock mount so all I do is undo the shock instead of twisting off the ball cup
(see 2nd photo)I have 3 Extra shock mounts at $5.00 each if anyone wants one

Novak Says to start at 65mm and go from there
