Hello DRok

You CAN use your ESC as is. We let new drivers use that sort of stuff in the beginning. Once you try racing and know you like it, then we will ask you to get a proper racing esc in your car. As for your radio, many people are on Spektrum radios so the chance of a conflict is low. Just come out with what you have and we will get you in the races.

Having said all that souinds like you have no reason not to be there this Sunday! 9AM.

Hope to see you soon.

Jody

Also, depending on the RTR ESC, you can lockout  reverse on some models.

why is reverse frowned upon?

when you get stuck, the natural thing (for some people) to do is to immediately back yourself out into traffic and cause a wreck.

Also parking yourself (your "fault" or not) comes with the penalty of having to wait for a corner marshal to right your car, if you had reverse you have the unfair advantage of getting unstuck sooner than other racers.

ah that makes sense
how long do you think i would be allowed to use my stock esc with reverse
however my esc does a funky thing where after reversing you gotta wait 5 seconds before going forwards
it kinda makes the reverse useless

Are you sure you've got that wired up properly?  I was under the impression that many reversing speed controllers were configured so that you had to wait 5 seconds before going into reverse.
