Title: Location for 12th scale Winter racing
Post by: OX on August 27, 2009, 02:18:31 PM
This is just a thought, and I know I haven't been around for quite a long time to race, but I will race again at some point, I have too much money invested in all that R/C stuff not to.

While attending one of the Friday cruise nights at the Colwood corners Plaza parking lot, I was thinking about how empty that old grocery store building looks. I believe it was not re-leased out because they were going to re-develop the site, but I also believe that project is on hold for now, for how long I don't know, but I would think that is why they have repainted and fixed up the other stores in that mall for the time being.

Has anyone one thought of approaching the current owners/developers to see if they would be willing to let IROCC use the location for Winter racing until such time as they are going to tear it down? I know it's a long shot, but it sure seems like it would be a great place to set-up for the Winter season with all that interior space and easy access parking. I imagine you could give them references from past racing locations if required.

Here, here. I know we have a good thing going with B&G and it would be a shame to jeopardize it, though. When I lived in Calgary we knew of vacant warehouse space owned by an insurance company. They gave us the 25000 sqft free as long as we covered off our own insurance. It was fantastic since we could leave the track set up and we could even run practice nights. We had it for two years. The down side was that when that time had elapsed we were left back at square one.

Just my $.02

Hey Dave, if it's closer to home, would you come out more often?
I'm not sure, but that building probably has posts in it that we would have to deal with.
