Title: Anyone have a couple flanged 5/16" x 1/8" bearings to spare?
Post by: Melbatoast on October 23, 2009, 11:23:58 PM
The ones I ordered haven't arrived and Shaver doesn't have any right now.  I've got the unflanged ones to work with a spacer in between them, but the only thing holding the wheel on is friction.  I don't know if it would hold for a complete race.

Thanks.

Ross

No it won't hold. Some people have tried. Somebody should be able to help out though. Craig probably has some.

Ross,

I have a pair of brand new Jaco purple fronts on un-flanged wheels I can bring tonight if you need them.
Theses have a spacer/bearing stop built into the centre of the wheels.

Regards,
Nick

Are those the large diameter old-style ones?  If so I have some too.  I can't get them to fit under the body (at a reasonable ride height).

I should be able to use Jarrod's or failing that, I have some washers of just the right size to go between the wheel nut and wheel, as a last resort.  The 1/8" ID bearings are getting a little hard to find as the newer cars went to 3/16" axles if I remember correctly.  I have a 3.2r.

Yes, they have a fairly large diameter, but Im sure a tire truer or two should be there tonight.

Nope, old Associated one.  I might bring the one from my GenX-10, but I'm not sure it's a direct swap.

If you have the 3/16" bearing no worries, looks like my washer setup is going to work fine for today.  The wheelnut (put on backwards) wedges into the washer opening, basically making a flange.  Got a plastic spacer between the bearings so they're spaced correctly.  There's a little more friction than the proper setup but just barely.
