Title: Tire wear.
Post by: BCbud on May 03, 2010, 01:00:48 AM
Good day!

I am getting some unusual front tire wear on my T1FK04. The tires are the new sorex on jaco rims that the club just did a buy on. In the pictures you can see a grove thet is developing on the insed of the surface. I can't see any rubbing on the body. This is happening on bothe the left and right sid but a little more on the right. There is a totle of 6 races on these tires. Any ideas?

Thanks Neil.

In wonder if the insert has shifted on the inside of the wheel?   Also, how much camber are you running?  Is the problem only on the front tires?

Shawn.

Only the fronts and 1* on front and .5* on back.

I know that after a while of running the tire you get that look, but not until the tires are really used. I think that shawn has a point about the camber you have set up in your car.

OK, more or less than 1* camber?

1.5* toe out.

is that total or per side in the front wheels.

That would be per side. I have also posted this question on RC-Tec and the answer ther is "this is normal" exept one person said it could have somthing to do with the insert ie: shape, positton on the rim, square or round corners, hardness, short or tall etc. I have not seen this befor and was a bit shocked to see my new tires with this groove in them.

Toe is not the culprit here.

Camber will play a role; you should stand your tires up more before putting a new set on.  However, I would suspect the real problem lies in the inserts, which is beyond your control as you bought the wheels completely assembled.

Thanks for the input. I will change the camber to .5* and run the tires untill they shred.

unusual front tire wear on my T1FK04.

My TC-4 showed exactly same tire wear from the June 20th race. First time out in a few years. It must be inserts and old tires(mine 3-5 years old).

New tires ran last 2 races without any camber adjustments and without unusual tire wear, everything normal.
