Title: Gearing And Transponder Mounting.
Post by: BCbud on September 07, 2010, 03:56:04 PM
Good day!

I was wondering what size spur gear was used last year with the 203 program and what rollout is a good starting point so I know what pinions to buy. Since the loop is under the car, does the transponder need to be mouted in the front hole or can it be taped to the graphite?

Thanks Neil.

i ran a 74 tooth and 36 to 40 pinion and either way the transponder should read the loop

Hi Neil,

I agree with Gerry.  Last winter, with the Tekin 203 software, I was running an 80mm rollout.

So, with a brand new set of 48mm tires, and a 74 tooth spur, you would need a 39t pinion.  Obviously, as your tires wear, you'll need a few more teeth on the pinion.

As for the transponder, I think you can mount that anywhere.  In the past I have seen them mounted on top of the steering servo and still register correctly with the loop.
