Hello to all my racing family, I have not joined in on discussions before now until I got my official diagnosis and me and my family could come to grips with what is ahead of us. I have " Complex T - Cell Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma" , which means I have cancer through out my body in my Lymph nodes and secondary into my Bone Marrow. The Oncologist says the good news is that my spinal fluid only has a Non Significant trace in it, there fore I don't have to have radiation. I have started six months of aggressive chemo, which will be followed by 2 to 3 years of maintenance chemo. Hopefully I will be able to eventually be able to do some of this in Victoria. I have been in Hospitals for over a month now, the last 24 days at Children's. As I have been a huge "Survivor" t.v. show fan since the very first episode, My dad and I came up with a theme for me here on the Oncology ward "SURVIVOR EXILE VANCOUVER" we even got one of the nurses to help make a poster down loaded graphics off the internet. My dad has been doing daily updates to family with the same title and then the day. I am going to be the "ULTIMATE SURVIVOR" when this is finished. It was nice getting a visit from Craig and his family a couple weeks ago and I really appreciate all that my IROCC FAMILY is doing to support me and my family at this time. It is really nice to know that I have so many friends out there. As this is now my window to the world, I am on the computer a lot now. Again THANK YOU ALL, Have a Healthy Happy Christmas.
p.s. How's the camel racing Carter, I miss you guys, send me a picture of the snow in Dubai. Lil
Luc
Good day!
Lucas, it is good to here from you, I think of you every time I ame at the track. I would love to see that poster, could someone take a picture of it and post it here? Keep in touch and you will be the ultimate survivor.
Neil
Hi Lucas
I hope your going to watch the 2hr final show tonight....maybe when your feeling a bit better you could drop by the track and race. I would gladly give up my car for you to race a heat or two.
Gorden
Hi Gorden,
I would really like to race a lap or two, you could bring the car to 2B here, I might be a little rusty ( Oh no that's just the chemo ) but i'll try and keep from running over the nurses feet as i drive it around the ward. LoL
Luc
Hey Lucas
John Bowker here. The club misses you and we all hope that the chemo doesn't make you feel too bad. I'm glad that your on the site now. I could be in Vancouver soon and if so I will come by for a visit. I can imagine that you get fairly bored in the hospital. Can you a least go outside and get some fresh air once in a while. I also would like to see the poster so if you can show us. Hey keep a good attitude and (watch your parents ,keep there spirits up) you know parents!!. We all talk about you daily and miss you. See you soon. Oh yah when you do come home let us know.
Merry Christmas and happy new year.
John
Awesome to hear from you Lucas!!
Your positive attitude and strong mindset will take you far in life!! Keep it up no matter what is thrown at you, good or bad.
We have like 10 feet of snow here and it is freezing, all the Camels are wearing sweaters! wink.
Me and Crater are looking forward to seeing you this summer
Jody
Hello, This is Luc's Dad, Luc was having a great day up until a new chemo Med was given at 1300 today. The drug PEG-ASPARAGINASE within mins of being given caused a critical Anaphylactic reaction which caused his blood pressure to drop dramatically and his heart to stop briefly. He had spontaneous Respirations back and eyes open within a min. it took fifteen mins. of aggressive treatment to obtain a blood pressure of 48/27 and then another 45mins. to stabilize him enough to move him to the ICU. Dana and I were allowed to see him again about half an hour after further stabilization in the ICU. Luc can't recall about five to six mins of the event. He is completely exhausted and resting in ICU at this time. I will update on Luc's behalf tomorrow sometime. I know how much you all mean to him. Thanks, Ed.
Lucas
You are in all our prayers buddy. I sit here swept just reading this. Get well soon as we need to know you are ok.
John
Keep good thoughts Luc and family as you are in my thoughts constantly, get well quickly and get back on here and let us know you are ok
Hang in there Lucas! Fight this thing with everything you've got! Don't give in and don't give up!
You can do just what "Fabio" did last night on Survivor, win BIG!
We're all rooting for you over here in Victoria!
Regards,
Nick
Hey Luc, hope the magic of Christmas happens in a big way for you guys.
Get better k?
Your in all of our thoughts always bud. We"re all pulling for you.
Wow that was a hard paragraph to read. I kept skipping down to the bottom for the conclusion. I can't imagine being there and having to live through that experience when you don't know the conclusion. I hope they can find a more compatible drug/method for the next time.
Luc, you've just been through something that most of us cannot comprehend. I would say that your "toughness" factor has now graduated you to a Nitro racer when you return to the track. I think Jody would be happy to be your pitman!
As you rest and heal, we are all thinking of you!
Blake
Hi everybody, " I'm Back"!!!! . It was nice of my dad to update all of you for me, thank you for all your support. I've been really tired and weak and sore all day. I'm out of ICU and back in my room. I don't remember much of it and don't want to have that happen again. I like the Nitro upgrade idea, but I would want to be racing with Jody so i would have to get him to train Carter to be my pitman, I wouldn't want to change the nitro line up except with adding me too it!!! Thanks everyone, Luc
I've had my own time in the ICU ward, and based on my experience there, all I can say is Yikes.
This sort of experience can give a new and unique perspective on life. I know it has for me, and I'm sure it will for Lucas as well.
Glad your back!!! Heck I'll be your pit guy.I used to give Craig 2 second pit stops, that will put you in the lead every time. Its good to hear from you.
Merry Christmas Everyone, I made it to Ronald McDonald House for Christmas. I hope all of you and your families have a great day and that santa has been good to everyone.
Luc
