Hi all,
This is a quick heads-up that the date for this summer's Speed Weekend will likely be one week later than usual. We are looking at running the race on July 16/17 this year but we are still waiting for approval from Juan de Fuca before we can make it official.
So, if you are planning your summer, keep July 16/17 free.
***Note that the reason for the change in date is basically 100% due to me. I cannot make the usual date, and with Daryl being away, we would be lacking administrative horsepower on the usual date. Hopefully this doesn't cause issue for anyone.
*** After further discussion, we are planning to use the regular Speed Weekend dates: July 9/10 2011.

Good change blake , it wouldn't be the same without you there.
Crap. I just committed to a project with the assumption of the same dates as in the past.

Sweet, wont be on camerons birthday for a change! I will actually be able to make it this year!
Shawn.
phil
quick change it
Love to but can't. The arrangement affects about a hundred or more other people. At least I can book the previous weekend, too, if need be. :(

Hi all,
Sorry, didn't try to screw anyone over (Phil, Jody, Gord). I actually prefered the usual date but others felt that I should be onsite. I had hoped that four months would be enough notice!
Either way, we still don't have approval from Juan de Fuca yet....

Hi all,
After talking to some racers tonight, and thinking about the dates, we are going to keep the usual Speed Weekend dates. We want to keep consistency in the dates so that racers can plan for the event.
So, the dates will be July 9/10 2011 assuming Juan de Fuca gives us the go-ahead.
Blake
awesome but sucks for you. Can you get out of the wedding or what!? People often get married more than once so tell them you will catch up with them next time, LOL
I can help with admin. Do you have to miss the whole day? Gotta be a way to get a race in.
Hi Jody,
I can probably do the drivers meeting on Sat, but then I'll be gone for the entire afternoon. I'll have to make the best of the last-chance qualifier on Sunday.... Good thing for bump-ups!
And yes, you will be helping a LOT with keeping things moving. Hopefully Phil can make the race and help as well.

July 9/10 will be a busy weekend at Juan de Fuca. The BMX ABA association is running the "Vancouver Island Nationals" at the Juan de Fuca BMX track. Should be some extra exposure for us!
Blake
They better not park in our lot!
Well, we will arrive at 6PM on Friday night to setup our track as usual. That should hold the lot for us. I just checked the Shamrocks schedule and they have a game at Bear Mountain Arena on the Friday night again this year. It's going to be very busy that night!
Blake
98 sleeps!
we won't have to worry about ABA as they have more than enough room on the bottom near their track. In any case I will check with a friend that is involved with the Victoria ABA governin pannel. to make sure everything goes according to everyone's plan.
And we will do the usual, and put the signs up acouple of days before asking people who are going to be there later then 6pm to use the lower lot.
