Title: 17T Pinion
Post by: Shawn68z on March 29, 2011, 12:09:35 PM

Any have a 17T pinion I could borrow for a day or so. I am still having issues with my gear mess on my 720, and want to try a bigger pinion.

Cool, if you could Pm your address and phone #, I will come pick the 17t up from you.   I think I actually found the problem today (but I have thought that 3 times now!)  But I still think the gear mesh would be better with a 17T. Want to know before I put in another order.

It should not matter what pinions your using as long as when you add the teeth on your first pinion and spur together they are no more than one off of when you add your second pinion and spur together

They should be the same.

You can see why if you look here (http://groups.google.com/group/rec.models.rc.land/msg/c128257bd8afec2b).

Serpent has come out with a new clutch that uses new pinion gears.  The spurs will work, but the pinions only fit the 733 EVO.

Hmmm new clutch mabye I been outta the loop for too long the only new in the clutch I noticed in my 733 was the bearing size and assembly in the clutch bell. And yes Tom the same is ideal and best but it's very possible to be one off without any side effects.

Got the 720 running tonight for about 2 minutes before blowing up first gear. Took some of the teeth randomly off.   Think this is the problem.

I have a limited selection of gears, and most of them are WC type of gears.. Time to buy either a new car, or atleast a new clutch system.   This effects all serpent cars prior to the 733 EVO.
