Maybe look for a CRC chart to see how they compare. Mayb Blake can answer the traction question

I believe that CRC's naming conventions are the same as Jaco's for these compounds:

Black
Purple
Grey
Pink
Yellow
White

And I am 99% sure that Jaco Double Pink = CRC Magenta.
Also, I don't think CRC has an equivalent for Jaco's Magenta.

Our weekly club tracks are definitely Low grip.  At the end of Speed Weekend Carpet 2012, it will be medium grip.  High grip tracks come from permanent facilities or large multi-day race events with hundreds of entries.

CRC Gray-Low =  Jaco Orange.

this may seem like a stupid noob question but does the carpet get cleaned to take away all the grip built up on it? or is it just newer carpet this year? or does the weekly layout change just prevent any spots from getting too groovy?

New track layout weekly

even when the new layout shares corners from the previous week the grip starts out low each night. Rolling it up, walking on it, spreading the dust and letting it sit for a week seems to render it somewhat "green" again.
