Title: Automatic Defibrillator now available at B&G in case of emergency
Post by: Blake on November 27, 2013, 02:24:55 AM
Hey all,

This is something we should all know about.  Let's hope we never need to use it:

***
We would like all of our renters to know that we now have an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) at our Yates Street Facility.  It is installed on the wall of the small room just outside of the gymnasium.  You will see a sign in the hallway to show where it is located.

In case there is ever an emergency requiring the AED, smash open the box to access it.

Who all in the club has first aid training and has used a AED before? they are pretty simple and most have instructions right on the unit but still nice to know who to seek out in case of emergency.
My first aid training is minimal, WCB work safe bc, but it does cover AED use. I also have saint john ambulance lvl2 from back in air cadets which is long expired but remembered a whole heck of a lot more from that while i was sitting through the wcb one heh.. They actually dont teach you have to find a pulse in level 1 first aid anymore.. they just expect you to hook up the aed and let it find it heh..

I do and those machines are easy to use. It tells you where to put the contacts and if there in the wrong spot the green light doesn't come on.

I am upto date on my St. John's, and have trained using acoupple of different AEDs.  Most AED's guide you through the process with plain old English.. Really easy.    And if the need should ever arise, I also have Tactical/Combat First Aid training as well.

Hopefully we will never need the first aid training, but its good to know who has it.

Cheers,
Shawn.
