Hey all,
Opening day is this Sunday, May 25th. Fingers crossed for dry weather!
Track setup is 9AM.
We will be testing our new carpet-based corners in an effort to ease the setup and teardown process. The idea is to build the perimeter wall as per usual, and the straightaway wall and sweeper. The rest of the track will be carpet mats with perhaps one small section of boards in the center of the track where there is a possibility of head-on collisions. Bear with us as we all get used to the new materials.
The Touring Electric club spec tires will be onsite for those looking to purchase their first set of the season. If you are supplying your own 32 compound tires, we'll mark them with the same marking as the club spec tires.
The new Rental-Ride should be ready to roll, so if you know of anyone looking to try racing, let me know. We'll also be making announcements at the track that the rental car is available.
See ya on Sunday!

Track setup is 9AM.
9Am? Is that earlier then last year? What time will the first race be?
And, will this weeks races count towards the season's points tally, or is this a test/tune freebie week?
Shawn.
Hey Shawn,
It has always been 9AM, although we definitely slipped from that a lot last season with people showing up quite late (myself included). If we can get the track done quickly, then we have lots of practice time and it sets us up to finish the day earlier.
No points this week, but it will be a full race day.
Weather is looking *iffy*, so let's hope for the best.

Batteries on charge.... Just fired up the Generator too.... Forgot the fuel stabilizer... Gonna need some fresh fuel in the morning. Won't be much racing for me.. Cameron's touring car is good to go, but I have not put mine together.. Will be all about breaking in the nitro, and getting the 2spd setup.
Shawn.
I will be there only electric for now.
Ok its official for me... Weather didn't pass the skylight test. Hope for better next week.
Shawn.
Ya, I just walked out my front door to start loading and it is just starting to rain here too.
Till next weekend, Neil.
You guy's are sure packing it up early, give the day a chance. I'll be there anyhow.
im up., so ill give it a shot. see you soon.
Well, opening day was more of a Test/Tune than a race day with a light turnout and threatening skies. We had roughly 10 cars so we ran some organized heats on the new track. It worked very well! If you hit the carpet, it doesn't upset the car too much - just enough to cost you your line. To avoid short coursing we'll likely put some dots inside of the white line.
It started to rain around 1:00PM. The track was put away in the truck at 1:05PM. Awesome!
PS. The IROCC rental-ride is dialed and ready. It was running strong out there!

I would say it works out very well good call on who ever idea it was. makes it easy set up and tare down and I would think would work well on a Tuesday night.
It would be sweet to lay some out on a Tuesday night for sure!
The track looks great guys! well done.
This Sunday will be Take #2 at Opening Day. The weather is looking pretty solid!
Reminder that the Track setup is 9AM.

Also, reminder that we have a Rental-Ride car ready to go. If you know of anyone looking to try racing, let me know. We'll also be making announcements at the track (and on Facebook) that the rental car is available.

Fun day yesterday. Smallish turnout with 13 cars in Stock and 5 in Nitro. We had lots of practice at the start which was nice, and the heats had some good racing all around. The rental car was on the payroll all day and ran without a hiccup which was good. It was also good to see Robert Orr take some laps with his HPI. He last raced with us about nine years ago!
I think the daily truck pack-up will go smoother next week now that we have a system setup for the storage of the carpet rolls.
Here is a pic of the fully dressed up track.
See ya next Sunday,
Blake

I don't remember seeing the pieces of cars lying on the track.
I guess that's an artefact of the way you took the picture.
Probably a buggy iOS... Just kidding [NM]ick. The phone is hard to beat.
I forgot to mention the club spec tires. They provided great grip and didn't wear much at all. The plan is to run them for about four full race days before we release the second set of tires for those that want a new set.

looks great, hopefully the next shot will have a busier pit!
what time do the races for the novice class start on june 8th and 22?
novice class would be considered the first heat of the race program. if we have more than 3 we would put them in their own heat and call that novice.
usually we kick off racing around 11 am. depending on setup time and turnouts. the more people there at 9 am ready to setup, the faster we get onto the track.
show up for 9am its the best time to see how the track goes together
