August 10th Enduro Race
Basics:
Maximum 10 teams
Entry fee is per team.
At least 3 per team, recommended 4-5 per team.
One member from each team must be corner marshalling throughout the race.
One car per team(one electric one nitro if they want to stay the same teams)
No replacement cars allowed, you must fix the original chassis.
Any parts, electronics, motors, tires, engines are allowed to be swapped during the race.
Touring Stock Enduro - 3 Hours - Chose 17.5 over 21.5, as there are a lot more used premounted slicks which wear slower than hpi d-compounds (FWD Touring cars no weight limit)
Touring Nitro Enduro - 3 Hours - Get ready to burn some nitro! ...and tires. Mandatory throttle return springs and fail safe(THESE WILL BE TECH'd), receiver pack voltage test / change at half way.
Enduro Pricing:
$5 per racer from Saturday, $20 for new entries
Location: 3800 Cessna Drive, Richmond, BC V7B 0A1
The lot is the first entrance accessible when heading North on Russ Baker Way after you pass Gilbert. For now there is no access from Southbound as a security gate is closed from the campus on Friday evenings. If you look on google maps, we are the most south parking lot on the BCIT campus, and we run in the middle. The gate is open Saturday Mornings.
Trophies:
We've adopted IROCC's Every Racer gets a "trophy" theme, this applies to each of the two race events.
Food:
We've had chinese food provided on the Saturdays in the previous years, we are currently planning again for this. There is also food within a 5 minute drive.
Hotels:
Rooms can be had for about 110 a night nearby.
A few searches have come up with decent prices. You can change the number of room occupants as well.
I would love to come to this. We talk about doing this and we never do. I hope we can get some irocc members to go.
sounds great to me 17.5 stock is fine one day or 2 day works to lets have somemore fun
Rob F
yes two days for sure. dinner out yaaaaaa
I am in, regardless of format. I can fit several people in my van as usual.
Who's supplying the Nitro car on my team...?
I can offer up a decent electric car, with 17.5 and regular body.
Blake
I'm in and format doesn't matter to me either. Blake, aren't you going to volunteer your gas car??? Or your Awesomatix??? How many teams can we get together?
Ill volunteer my gas car, but ill need an engine for it. with blakes electric car in the mix, ill have all the parts on hand for that. Rob, this little os engine i borrowed from you might fit the bill perfectly if you were wanting to come.
ill have to discuss with the wife but if its not the longweekend, im sure it would be ok for two days. though for me personally, one day of enduro would be plenty. and plenty for the cars... but lets see what happens =)
would it be better or worse to try:
Saturday - One day Race (normal race)
Sunday - Two heats of enduro (halves the run time of the cars, and wear)
?
My personal vote is a two day race but an hour long nitro main would be cool.
The idea of an Enduro is to run a team of drivers running one car for a longer period of time, not one driver running for an hour. And an hour would not be long enough if we were running teams especially since there would not likely be any qualifying rounds.
If a regular race program was run one day and an Enduro the second, that could give everybody a chance to run there own equipment. But it would also likely mean we would have to take more than one vehicle if we are able to enlist enough people for 2 Enduro teams.
Cost will definitely be an issue I think. If we are running race pace enduro we can expect to go through many sets of tires and at up to two gallons of nitro fuel.
I'd say my nitro car was very fuel efficient at sw and I burnt 3/4 of a gallon for a little over and hr of runtime.
Two sets of tires for an hour of.mains. both sets of rubber tires I ran are pretty worn out from a little over 30 minutes?
A team will surely bring costs down though. Still, even with clubs muchmores I'd expect them belted by 30 minutes depending on who's driving. Nitro tires out of the box might last an hour.
As far as my part in it may be; I can afford.to go.to the race, but not spent a bunch on tires or fuel ect.
My gas car.... lets not change engines
My gas car. I found an engine we can wear out and the car will likely be retired next season.
No sense burning up your high dollar stuff.
Valk I think you went through more fuel cause you raced in the pits for about 2 hours..... ;D ;D
yeaaaaaaaaa.. next time ill make time to make sure my shyte isnt fked BEFORE i show up for the weekend heh. but i wasnt the only one who had problems so a little redemption heh.

I have 11 races or 1 hour and 6 minute on my club tires and they still look fairly good.

Please pre-register guys!
I would love to see two or more teams from IROCC. Partial teams are OK - arrangements can always be made.
I would like to go to this race and be apart of one or both gas and electric enduro races.
So in the enduro races I would assume that the team members would share the cost of gas, tires and parts used in the race and I am game for that.
Neil.
id like to go, but even if it was just a two day race it would be almost $200 with ferry, entries and hotel plus food. I could probably swing that but start throwing tires/fuel ect for the cars in and it could add up fairly quick.
family life has its limitations =( 2014 might not be my year to join the road trip crew.
Hi all,
I have updated the first post in the thread with all John's latest info. I like the two-events-in-one approach. A regular trophy race on Saturday, followed by an Enduro on Sunday. Something for everyone!
Mario and Eddie managed to recruit KJ Jones from Portland Oregon to fly up to this event too. He's a quick Nitro driver so it should be fun.
This is the list we have so far:
Blake
Daryl
John
Rob
Neil
Nick
Craig?
I can fit 5 people and gear in my van, and Daryl can fit 4-5 as well. With four people in a vehicle, the ferry will be about $25 each way per person. Accent Inn is $115 for the night if we book in advance.
Blake
i can't make it i have to go out of town for a week :P
Do we all share one or two rooms? Ie bring a sleeping bag? If we can get one more, we can send two teams. Should be epic
Should be able to get two strong teams. How's this look?
John
Blake
Neil
Nick
Daryl
Craig
Rob
? (Tom, Gerry, Glenn, Shawn, Brian?)
As for hotel, normally we do two people per room. But, if you don't snore too loud, I have no problem with a 3rd person in my room to save a few bucks. Nice thing is that it's just one night....
Blake
I'm really just fine bringing a sleeping bag and crashing on the floor if it saves some.money. though I guess it would only be like $60/ea that's fuel or tires for the difference!
GoGo hobbies will be assisting the Nitro Enduro with a gallon or two of Byrons Fuel to be shared amongst the teams. That helps a tad in fuel costs.
How much is he selling that for? Ill need.more fuel to compete on Saturday.
about $35-38 taxes in a gallon of 30% ProDriver (9% lube)

Sounds good to me but I hope we can get the 8th person to have 2 equal numbered teams. Now for tires for touring electric, are we going to spend money on new tires or just use/shread up some old ones. I have several sets of used tires and 3 sets of new Sweep 32 tires that are not even glued yet that can be used.
Are both teems going to run electric and nitro?
I am assuming that in each enduro race people will be rotating duties?
Neil.
i probably wouldnt spend new tires on the electric enduro, definitely need them for nitro though.
im sure everyone on their respective team could plug their club tires as we get a new set this week. if you had wanted to run new tires for your trophy race then use them up in the enduro that would work too.
i could buy a set of those sweeps off you to run in van.

I'm down with using up older tires. I have a few used sets if either of our teams is short on them. I hope my team will run both Electric and Nitro. And yeah, definitely rotating duties: Driver, Marshal, Pitman

That is what I expected but I am a little bit nervous driving a nitro for the first time, a bit of practice would be nice.
Neil.
you drive hot motors offroad, its not so bad, just blip the throttle to get some speed and let the car turn on its own. we will see to it you get plenty of practice.
the enduro - its all about fun factor, dont stress too much about fuel / tires. It'll all workout as long as you have a half decent car, with a half decent engine / motor :) everyone has old tires laying around. I've got plenty of chunked tires that won't be trophy race worthy, but definitely ok for hours of racing :)
So just to confirm, we would get the first ferry on saturday?
Neil.

Correct.
Blake
theres been a few requests for touring stock to be open 32-36 tires, same as the mod class.
a lot of leftover tires from this summer has been 32 and 36*
so we will make the touring stock tire spec the same as mod.
Well I just went through my used Touring tires that mostly came from Tom ( Thanks Tom! ) and I have 10 sets to be used by teem IROCC for the enduro race.
Neil.
OK, I have sent JohnT my info for registration, so I am going. Nitro and 17.5....
Now to figure out this enduro thing..
Shawn.
Good luck!
wow, we are looking good in terms of pre-regs.
If you havent already, please reply in this thread or send me an email with your pre-reg. It helps with numbers count for food / awards.
Also, we are still awaiting your confirmed teams for irocc, if its a last minute thing for teams, just let me know the # of teams in electric and nitro. So far I have two irocc teams in electric and two in nitro.
Hey all,
After Sunday's discussions at the track, we are thinking that these will be our teams:
TEAM SIDNEY
Blake
Neil
Nick K
John B (Unconfirmed. Super Mario or Trevor Sandham could be a backup if John B is out)
Cars:
Nitro: Nick's NT1 + OS Engine. John B's engine as backup.
Electric: Blake or Nick's SpecR S2.
TEAM LANGFORD
Craig
Daryl
Rob
Shawn
Cars:
Nitro: Craig's NT1 + Engine. Shawn's engine as backup.
Electric: ?
Let me know if I'm missing anything.
Blake
Hi all,
I have reserved some rooms for us:
Accent Inn, Vancouver Airport (usual hotel for us)
August 9th, one night
6 rooms with 2 beds @ $109 plus tax s/d
Payment: Each room pays own room/tax
Guaranteed: Yes
Rooming list will be provided by August 1
Group #132679
Unfortunately due to the fact that these are the last two-bedded in the hotel we will not necessarily be on the ground floor or near each other.
This is what I have so far:
1. Rob/Irina
2. Blake/Daryl
3. Craig/JohnB (John unconfirmed)
4. Neil/Shawn/Nick
5. Avery (unconfirmed)
6. Anyone else?
Blake
if i go my family and i will make our own arrangements so you don't have to worry about a room for me.
awww does that mean im on the floor after all? lol.

I think you put Nick in the wrong room Blake.
Cheers,
Shawn.
I put Nick in a room of three so he could save a few bucks. I don't really care which room it is.
I haven't heard anything from JohnB, so if he's out then we have two in all rooms.
Blake
I talked to John B yesterday and he is not shure if he is going. Come on John please decided sooner than later and tell us so we can finalize the rooms.
Neil.
Edit: We would also need to look for another back up nitro motor.
Accent Inn needs the room count by tomorrow (Tues). I am going to give them this tonight:
1. Rob/Irina
2. Blake/Daryl
3. Craig/Shawn
4. Neil/Nick
If anyone else is coming, let me know today, otherwise I am dropping the reservation to these four rooms.
Avery (If coming, handing his own accomodations)
JohnB (If coming, we'll fit him in somewhere)
Blake
A few questions, who is brining tents? With 2 per tent we would need 4, I am more then willing to bring mine. Is Daryl brining his generator? Should I bring my 4 tent weights? Who is driving and who is riding with them? I could bring my nt1 for a back up motor, I will not have time to clean it though. I also have a gallon of 20% that I could donate some of.
Neil
Ill let blake and daryl discuss tents tables ect. Obviously I have both though table a little small for two.
As for your nt1 neil, bring it and race it. Ill pit for you. Jarrod had it running great when he was out just before speed weekend so all you need to do is play with it really.
Ill handle fuel for our team. We can all hobble together tires. If a spare motor is needed, the entire motor.mount comes out in 4 screws and jarrods clutch and gears drops right into mine. Could do an engine swap in like 3 minutes lol.
Same engine even.
I am not going to race the nt1 as I am trying to run 3 classes as it is (if I get the vta togeather). Even if I do not get the vta done 2 classes will be just fine for me.
Neil.
No better practice than an hours worth of racing on Saturday.
I'd be itching to play with the new toy ha.
What I want to do is download and print out a manual at work (my printer is busted). Do a teardown, cleaning an re assemble. After that I will know a bit of how some of it comes apart and goes back together and I would have a better chance at doing repairs. I would not expect others to do repairs for me especially at a trophy race, that is just how I like to do things.
Neil.
whats your new toy? :o

Oh! I was thinking that Valk got somthing.
I will have my tent, generator, table and chair. Shawn, Craig and myself will be in my truck. Neil, Nick and Blake in the van. Rob and Irina are on their own. We will need at least 2 more tents and everybody else is responsible for their own tables and chairs. Bring your weights Neil, and I will bring some as well, if I remember.
Neil, can you meet me at my house at 5:50AM on Saturday? We can pickup Nick at 6:00AM and be at the ferry by 6:15AM which should be early enough.
Neil/Nick, please bring your tents, tables, and chairs. Daryl's generator is probably plenty of power for everyone.
Also, Neil/Nick - bring all the Rubber tires, Nitro tires, and Fuel that you have.... We'll figure everything out on Saturday night once we know what tire wear is like.
Blake
I thought neil was further out. Wouldbt it make.more sense to pick him up on way to ferry?

I am only 10 min away and I am further off the highway, I will be fine going to Blakes.
Neil.
I can donate my tent (and table for that matter) to the cause, plus a bunch of used nitro foam.
I can bring a cooler and few flats of water but that would mean stopping for ice on the way.
Neil.

John hasn't asked for them, but you might as well throw them in.
Blake
it never hurts, incase of transponder issues or newer racers looking to run extra classes.
Thank you for bringing them!
Thank you guys for the continued support, hope it was enjoyable for all that attended.
