Title: X=ray T4 Pinion Removal
Post by: BCbud on July 31, 2014, 10:47:36 PM
So the problem with this car is you nees to remove the top deck to access the pinion screw. I decided to see if I could come up with a way to make it more accessable, here is what I came up with.

To start off with my t4 2013 has the t4 2014 motor mount that is recessed at the motor mount screws.

I used button screws instead of the socket screws that are intended to be used with this mount to clear the pinion in the next steps. Let it be noted I used the X-ray offset spur gears. Next I took the layshaft with the installed as per manual spur gear and rotated it 180*. Next I installed the pinion gear backwords with the set screw facing the battery.

Once this is done you can ( with a bit of difficulty ) access the pinion screw through the top deck or with reasonable ease access it, with the battery removed, from the battery side.
