Hey scottster11,

That looks like it could be a good deal.  It seems like it comes with a ton of stuff and the TC3 is a great car for a newcomer like yourself.  You can never really tell about the quality of the items in an eBay situation though.  You're kinda rolling the dice there....  That said, the amount of stuff listed there definitely makes that auction intriguing.

You also might wanna come out to the track this Sunday and ask around for any used setups that you might be able to get locally.  Not everyone in the club checks this website.

Hey that not to bad of a set up.  unfortunatly you can't see the chassis to see the condition.  You should come out on sunday.  I beleive there are a few tc3 for sale for a few club members.
Another place to look is  www.rctech.net.  there is two area to look, onr there main buy and sell area.  You can also check in the canadian section there is  a buy/sell thread going on.  the nice thing with checking there you can get more info on the cars.  Sometmes there are some guy's leaving the hobby and can get completly set up.

If you have any other question just post either here or in our general discusion.  Hope to see you out checking us out on Sunday.  Can alway use more racers.

Hi scottster11, well it all sounds fine and good on the surface, but the guys' description of what he is actually selling is not very good.

For example, what are these batteries he is selling?
Are they 2400's, 3000's, 3300's?
Most of the racers in IROCC run a club battery, usually 3300's which are excellent by the way, giving lots of power and more than enough run time to finish a 5 minute race. These club batteries can take quite a bit of abuse too, which is nice if you're like me and  really only have a couple of good packs.

Same can be said for the electric motors, what are they?
It says something about reedy and some other brand, but it doesn't tell you what they are.  For all you know these motors could be worn out, which would be a big burn to find out after you've paid for them!
We as a club race with stock, 27 turn motors. So at this point in IROCC racing, anything else wouldn't be allowed to run on race days.

The radio looks like it's an older Airtronics. Airtronics makes very good quality equipment.

So what I'm saying, is for the price of $245 Canadian or whatever it is now, and you don't know what the final bid price will be, you're going to be buying a lot of stuff sight unseen.
You could be buying some good stuff or you could be buying junk, or stuff that isn't compatible with what people run in IROCC and find you need to spend even more money.

Trust me, there is always lots of R/C stuff for sale on eBay, some of it good, some of it worn out junk. I know, I've bought 90% of my R/C stuff off ebay, but having said that, I've been in the hobby for a long time.

My suggestion would be to come to the races on Sunday afternoon and ask around. If you can't come on a Sunday, we practice Tuesday night starting around 6ish.
People in the club always have cars and stuff for sale. You maybe able to actually see it run,or if not, at least you can usually check it out first hand and be sure of what you are buying.

Bottom line, you don't want to spend $300.+ on stuff that may or may not be junk and end up being stuck with it,  and ultimately being unhappy.

Probably not what you wanted to hear, but I'm sure I'm not the only club member that doesn't want to see you possibly end up with stuff you can't use for one reason or another.
But, if you have your heart set on this ebay auction, IF I was you, I'd be asking this guy a whole bunch more questions about what he is ACTUALLY trying to sell BEFORE you buy!

Regards,
Nick

I agree with Nick.  E-Bay is often a gamble and your best bet on E-Bay is if you are a seasoned R/C user and E-Bay user.  I really wouldn't recommend getting something to start off E-Bay unless you have someone in the know give an auction the OK.  There are deals to be had locally as a lot of guys are upgrading to the X-Ray brand.  Your best bet is to get a complete set up including the radio, receiver, car, etc.  That way you aren't throwing a ton of money at something you haven't really played around with.  Buying bits and pieces usually add up to more than buying the whole package....

Come out to the track and ask around - everyone is willing to help and give their 2 cents - and there are some very seasoned experts here too.  Tuesday eve is the best time as we are just fooling around and can give you more attention.  Feel free to stop by Sundays as well but some guys may be running to the track for their next race!

This is the answer the seller gave me when i asked him all mine and your questions! do you think this is still worth it?

The batteries are all different. There are 2300, 2000,1700, The motors are Reedy  Rage, paradox pro, Team Kinwald, P2 Kpro. And there is still a motor in the car these are just the spares they all look to be in mint condition.

They guy that owned the car was a competitive racer and took very good care of his gear.

The chassis is in very good shape the care has been very well maintained.

Hey, only 37 mins left in that auction...

Maybe Nick can post some "how to win an auction" tips, he is the sniper master, you have to be a sniper these days on eBay to win an auction that multiple people are interested in.

Its always wiser to wait and miss a good deal than to jump and waste your money ;)  www.esnipe.com is a must if you are E-Baying - keeps bidding wars to a minimum and prevents you from overbidding as well as making sure you don't miss out on an auction.  I never bid on an auction without it...

Those batteries are no good for anything other than a short practice or a motor lathe or something along those lines.....  You want 2400 Sanyo at a minimum - get GP3300 though if you are gonna buy batteries.... you'll end up buying them later anyhow if you stick with the hobby...
