I figured I'd better start this on a different thread since its kinda off the topic of points ;)

Nice :) I know the whole corner marshalling can be an issue. Personally I try my best to get on and off the track, stay out of the way, etc. I've had a couple of times where traffic is flowing nicely and I'll start watching the race.... ooops! I'm training myself to be more attentive and I think I'm doing a good job. I'm still kinda new and trying and willing to learn how to be a better more attentive corner marshal. At least I don't eat my lunch at the track or answer my cell phone...
Something to consider though. I'm not going to jump in front of traffic because YOU made a mistake and got your car hung up. The guys behind you haven't made a mistake and shouldn't be punished by having to dodge me so I can get to your car. Even if you get bumped by another driver and taken out I don't think its fair to the other guys behind you to suffer from a corner marshal stepping in front of their car.
Something else to consider when someone else is corner marshalling. People like me need as little outside distractions as possible because we are easily distracted. Wait till after a race before having a conversation with a corner marshal. Oh and how hard is it to walk BEHIND the corner marshal instead of between him and the track..... sheesh!
As for yelling at a corner marshals I think its kind of understandable. We get excited and instead of talking we yell. We just have to be careful what we say - there are some words that come out of our mouths that aren't exactly socially acceptable and there are kids (and other adults) that are at the track that don't need to hear that. Once you come off the stand the yelling should stop - if the corner marshal made a mistake then let him know in a civil kind of way. I don't think its often the case that they are trying to wreck your race....
I know I can get excited when I'm up on the stand racing. Whatever I'm blurting out is just from the excitement of the race and often I'm blurting out "oh come on!" and while it might sound like I'm yelling at another driver or corner marshal I'm usually just frustrated by some dumb move I've just made

Amen to that brother, and while you are waiting for the freight train to go buy the guy on the stand yelling "C'mon, C'mon, C'mon" should be slapped! It doesnt take profanity to make the comments unacceptable.
If aerobatics are required for a marshall to get across multiple lanes of busy traffic to get to a car then it is NOT unreasonable for the marshal to just wait. The drivers need to understand this and have patience. I am not saying be a lazy ass out there but you should not have to jump over a car to get to someone elses for exactly the reasons highlighted by grinder. In fact I dont like seeing a corner jump over my car it scares me and if you fall on a carbon or fibre glass antennae you could theoretically kill yourself or at least do significant damage.
Cornering the D is the exception, it is just random chaos, often the car you are trying to get to gets hits so hard the two cars involved are now in another coner marshalls section and you forget why you are standing out in the middle of the track, LOL.
i corner how i want to be cornered..................i only wish i got cornered the way i corner
If I corner marshalled like I wanted to be corner marshalled, I'd never go onto the track at all, since I never want anyone to have to corner marshal me!
Deal, no more corner marshaling for Tom :-)
The only time anyone should yell at a marshal is when the marshal is looking the other way and you need to get there attention about your car that has been sitting there for 5 minutes! .... but of course you ask them nicely, just loud enough so they can hear you.
There have been times when I was marshaling that I felt like a driver was burning a hole through my head with laser beam eyes because they felt I wasn't getting to their car fast enough. Nitro racing is the worst because the cars are moving so damm fast it's hard to get out before someone else drives into you. It would also be nice if the other drivers would try to avoid the marshal when he is on the track, I've been hit a few times when it was kinda obvious that I was standing at the edge of the track marshaling a car.
One thing I've learned over the years from being involved in slotcar racing is that corner marshals very in ability and that even after years of experience some of them will never get any better, it's just a fact.
go to one out of town race and generally speaking you will appreciate the level of marshalling we have, we are just used to having such a kickass club. It is the away races you find your car sitting there for "hours".
then again it could just be me, I seem to park myself alot at away races, they probably just get sick of my bad driving.
i ran into 2 different coners marshal on the straight way on 2 seperate races it was a pain, i don't think i did swear but yelled cm 'on.... on the other hand i did get infront of a car once while marshalling but not on the straight away tho.
blah blah.... oh well.....
the only thing i hate is when a marshall is watching the race and not his corner........i have been very loud and abrubt and even known to swear a little at a marshal but have learned it doesnt get me anywere so i just save it and bad mouth them behind there backs..............lol
