That is great news Dave, thanx for the heads up.  However with indoor racing (a priority for me) already taking place saturday afternoons it is very unlikely I will be able to make any saturday morning work parties.
Let me know if I can help any other way.....

and you know, with the bmx track being moved to the old kids driving school at juendefuca, now would be a good time to approach the rec center or whoever is in charge down the hill there, to make the fromer bmx track an off road track for RC's, as they are it's second biggest user.

Anyhow.... as far as offroading goes....  what about corner four at Western Speedway where the moto X guys run their motorcycles?  It looks pretty good but I was way down in the bleachers and didn't get a close up look at the track.

Worth checking into....

i actually went down to turn 4 to have a look for that exact thing, and its not a bad idea , but it would be a bit of a strech (pretty rough, alot of ruts, and colects alot of water). a way to get regualar access.

RE: CODY

I have been reading this thread and also have seen posts made in other threads that can be construed as nothing other than belittling, demeaning and at times downright cruel remarks made to this young lad.

I do not know how old Cody is and for that matter it really has little relevance to the issue.

What in Gods name is wrong with some of you people?
A couple of you should be ashamed of yourselves.

I assume most of you are adults and therefore should be setting a positive example for minors, not "cutting them down" which injures their levels of self-esteem.

I am not at present racing with IROCC but I fully intend to restart in the near future.
I also have a 10 year old son who is very enthusiastic about RC cars, is very interested in getting involved with racing them, has a great number of questions regarding the hobby, and will be accompanying me when I restart racing with IROCC again.

I certainly know one thing that will transpire when he does come with me to racing.
I have compiled a list of names of certain individuals I will ensure he is kept away from.

And BTW, my son has not yet learned to type or spell very well either. And he may never do so.

I disagree

no one likes to get spammed and people come here to read about racing and find out information, pointless meaningless posts start to add clutter and garbage to these threads and it makes it hard to sift through. Some of his post come out of left field and have nothing to do with the conversation at hand. These are unnecessary and if I want to point out to a person that they should focus on the topic at hand I will do so as I see fit.

As far as spelling, no one here is asking him to be perfect but when you can not understand the post because it is so bad then there is a problem. When every second word (or more) is spelled incorrectly then a little more effort is needed. At 13 you should be able to look stuff up and get spelling more correct. Besides I see posts where Cody can do it and he just needs to focus more often and a little harder. There is nothing wrong with pushing someone to try a little harder. I agree that calling his posts "crap" is the wrong way to go about it. Mrdoug is not known for his subtly or tactfulness. However when I have had to get after him for his content and spelling I have been nothing but encouraging.

So I don't care if you are 12 or 22 if it is obvious that NO effort is being made to be coherent or keep the discussion on topic then that person needs to be spoken to if they want to participate in this forum. Like I said I know Cody can do better when he focuses.

So all of that said, I don't know what kind of parent or mentor you have been to your kids or any other young person for that matter but in my life I expect a reasonable amount of effort to be made regardless of a persons ability and I take pride in that characteristic and will continue to do so. Communication is one of the most important aspects of getting through life and starting to focus on it at 13 is not too early in my opinion.

Of course words of encouragement are necessary for kids to hear and I saw those from you to Cody in a prior post you made. I did use the words "SOME of you....." when I posted.

However, when a kid posts asking a valid question such as whether or not he can run an E-Max truck at an off road track (posting on the topic at hand may I add) and he receives a reply to his post that he is spamming, his posts are "pointless, off topic" and a link to a site is provided that clearly insinuates one is "a dumb ass" if they don't follow the basic procedure at forums, well....need I say more?

I could write more but I don't want to "clutter up" this thread with "pointless, meaningless posts and garbage", nor be construed as a dumb ass because its not about off road.

you are correct when you look at those comments in the context of this thread alone. Here is where those people are coming from, that was about his 15th post in about 2 minutes in multiple forums. The one you are referring to happens to be in context and relatively coherent so I can see where you are coming from but I am talking about the big picture not an isolated thread a single post.

There was no response from the administrator or moderator because as you say those particular comments were unwarranted.

THIS IS CODY'S MOM, LAURIE.
FIRSTLY, I WOULD HAVE TO SAY I AM ASHAMED AT ALL OF YOUR NEGATIVE REMARKS ABOUT CODY.  HE LOVES THIS HOBBY AT LEAST THAT IS WHAT I THOUGHT THIS WAS.  YOUR UPSET WITH HIM FOR SPELLING ERRORS AND PUTTING MESSAGES IN WRONG PLACES.  NOW YOU STOP AND THINK FOR A MOMENT WHAT YOU HAVE DONE TO HIM!  I THINK YOU GUYS NEED TO TAKE A LONG HARD LOOK AT WHAT YOU HAVE SAID TO HIM AND YOU OWE HIM AN APPOLOGY, TRY TO GROW UP ALONG THE WAY!

THE UNFORTUNATE THING IS CODY ENJOYS THIS HOBBY SO MUCH SO I WONT DISAPPOINT HIM BY NOT TAKING HIM SUNDAY BUT I THINK YOU DON'T DESERVE TO HAVE HIM IN YOUR COMPANY.  HE HAS LEARNING DISABILITIES AND ONLY 13.  I HOPE YOU CAN FORGIVE YOURSELVES.  i AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN ALL YOUR NEGATIVE COMMENTS.  AGAIN LETS NOT LOSE FOCUS, THIS IS A HOBBY!

codys a good kid, its not always his speling that people are talking about,  its the post that are 4-5 in a row all having 2 or 3 words in each that are really about nothing.

anyways now that this has been this topic has been beaten to death(and then some) lets get back to the real one, the offroad track. the turn 4 track at  the speedway a bit of a strech.

lets get somthing built, or atleast started!!!  man, if only someone in the club had a large property.  i thaught  this was all lined up??

Yes I did commented on some of Cody's post but nothing is offensive as I can see.  Do you see a problem with my posts?  You are the admin, you have the rights to delete posts that don't seem appropriate.  The first post that you repsonded to Cody, I said "good one" because you have chosen the right words to tell him what to do.

Let's not get our heads stuck in the mud here with this.  What's done is done, get over it and if we did make a mistake in educating Cody with posting on the board then we all did learn from it.  If it makes you feel better.... Sorry Cody.

yo cody

on emaxx would be able to run on the track (once it's finished) but it would not be competive in an monster truck class, and as this track is on private property you would have to come and try it out on a alloted day.

don't sweat the forum racers in here, everyone is a billy at some point; just take your time when posting and only post in one place about a topic :D which is what this is all about

when i took a walk over to the new site last week they havn't even broken ground.

talking about breaking ground, all plans hold true we will be working on the track tonight. about 7pm for a few hours, basicly a scout and bs. bringing the weed eater and a lawn mower. come on by with a tool and be a part of endever.

sooke and kangaroo rd, park on kangaroo before the bridge or across the road by the mail boxs.

well we kicked ass last night on the lot and it's going to turnout sweet.

just the two of us cleared about 35% of it in 2 hours. with some help we could have it ready for digging in about 4 hours, with just weed wackers and lawnmowers.

throwing around track ideas today :D

Dave,

Glad to hear things are moving along, I wish I had more time to help. I can't wait for a place to race offroad....

Anyhow, heres what I was getting at.... I have a buddy who owns a Bobcat and is very reasonable. Should you require one, and I'm sure you will, let me know and I'll put you in contact with him.

He will only take cash to keep the cost down and to give you an example, he graded my entire backyard (100' x 70'), removed about 10 yards of earth and was there for about 4 hours - Total = $200.

Pursue the BMX track - its your best bet if you want to get off-roading up and running in Victoria....

due to lack of people willing to help out on the work days and the lack of time I have these days, not to mention that the spot on kangraoo turned out to be pretty much a wetland; the dream is died :(

the old BMX Track is a awesome opportunity and the best shot at having a place for me too whip all your asses in the dirt

Hopefully for the good of local RC someone reading these will call up juan de fua or go down there, and get a name of who's in charge of development; write a letter and ask if thats a possablity.

I've been there a few times before at the BMX track

It's pretty sweet there but it would be more fun if I didn't go by myself.

I need some people to go with! The weather is going to start getting better here so lets make some kind of schedule!?
