so my axel broke through the piece that holds it last weekend at racing, craig was kind enough to give me the piece to fix it,thanks craig, so in trying to put my car back together the lungsford axel just doesnt seem to want to go into its holder, any suggestions on how to get it in??

Thanks

I can't remember for sure, but those Lunsford axles might be a reverse thread.

Yes, your Lunsford axles are rightey-loosey, lefty-tighty, AKA a left-hand thread.  Turn counter clockwise to tighten.

Are your new steering knuckles the same type as the ones you are replacing?

Danny

not entirely sure, the new ones are black while the old ones are white, inside the new ones theirs no threads to tighten into.

Tom

They were available in both colours at different times.  They come blind -- you cut the threads with the axles.  Remember the original axle?  That's a press fit -- no threads (just a knurl on the shaft).  The Lunsford axle is even bigger (due to the threads), which is what makes it attach more firmly to the plastic, and more difficult to install.  This is why the plastic broke rather than the axle coming off.

You should be able to thread the Lunsford axles into the steering knuckles.  Be careful, and remember it's a left-hand thread.  Make sure you start the threads in straight, it's probably easy to start them crooked.

Danny

thanks for the help, i did manage to finally get them in, VERY tight fit, seems to be in straight to be not crooked, although the king pin doesn't look entirely straight to me, tends to angled forward a bit, the other side looks the same to me, is that right?
