Since you do not need one right away, you can take your time and look for a good deal to come up. Another place to look is RC-TECH for sale forums. Some sellers there will do postal money orders. Evan if a seller on any place gives only options that you can not do, ask before bidding or buying and sometimes they will say yes to your request.

the DX3s should have two receivers with it. so watch out that the person has not pulled one out of the package

Carefull about the DX3S models, the original batch were made by a differnent company then the DX3R (Which are great radios) .  The original DX3S had a really cheap thumb wheel that was prone to failure.  There is a forum about it on RC TEch.

If you decide to go with a DX3S make sure its the new batch that support the marine protocal. I believe the model number is #3140 for the new batch.

So far I'm favoring the Dx3S from RC mushroom that Gord linked, It is indeed the second generation which has the better thumb wheel mentioned by Shawn (model 3140). Coming with 2 receivers is a big pro for this one as the cheapest receiver I've seen is $50.

My other option which should be considerably cheaper is finding another synthesized receiver, Any one got one from an old transmitter I could possibly buy? If i decide to stay with my FM JR xs3 synthesized radio.
