Hi all,

Please checkout Juan de Fuca's survey for planning new/upgraded facilities.  I'm sure it's a long shot, but it only take a couple of minutes to fill in.  The COR offroad group is filling this in, and so we should too.

(the link to start the survey is on the right side of the page)

You'll want to put it in your own words, but this is what I wrote when it asked for ideas of possible new faciities:

"Yes, outdoor RC racing tracks.  There are two groups of Radio Control car racers (IROCC and COR) that involve large groups of people from the community for weekly radio control car races.  Currently they are operating with temporary tracks, but a permanent facility would only help grow these groups, and provide an excellent family oriented race facility for all age groups.

Take the time to fill it out... we have nothing to lose.

Don't forget about the ultimate car killer, the velodrome.

DekelzMan

Ahh yes, the Velodrome.....Hey Tom, remember when I had my 10LSS out there before they'd put the caps on the bottom of the railings, and coming down the back straight the car got loose at about 45mph and met one of those posts head on. I swept my car into a bag and went home, LOL

Tom

Exact same thing happened with my 12L.  The cells from my receiver pack shot out of their heat shrink from the impact.  The support flange left an impressive dent in the carbon fibre chassis.

I figured my average speed was in the high 50's MPH for my 1/12 scale car.  This was quite a while ago technology wise.

My next car was a Trinity Revolver. . .

My 10L met a similar fate after my Tekin 411G ESC stuck wide open on the velodrome.  Most of the solder from the circuit board melted and pooled into a big blob in one corner of the plastic casing.  And of course the car found one of those steel posts.

I had much better luck at the Tsawwassen offramp years later.
