So what are some thoughts as to what this may be? Or better yet with a lipo and a non boosted esc what is the gearing combo?

3.5->4.5 depending on motor and speedo.

I belieave my Novak is set for 45 deg of timing, and i am running it at 4.3

Yes, based on my non-boosted TC experience this winter, I would say that 4.0 is a good starting Final Drive Ratio.  If you use a 100t spur in your T2, you'll be in the 40t-46t pinion range which means you can probably use your 12th Scale pinions.

Also, it seems that most drivers crank the endbell timing to Max for this class.  I never got my motor much higher than 130F while running it indoors.

So does that mean your running 64 p out side cause i was wondering about that too going through my gear sets. One online forum said that Novak said 3.5 but that seemed real low.

Yes, I ran 64p.

However, if you can find a 69t 48p spur (smallest Kimbrough 48p spur that I know of), you might be able to make that work.  A 29t pinion would give you a 4.0 FDR.

3.5 does seem insanely low, but at the ROAR race there were people running 3.0 FDR in the 21.5 non-boost class.  That's really low!

I found this chart the yellow highlight has been tested and does work according to the author
use the chart on gearchart.com for a T2 as they are a 1.7 internal ratio

Good day!

My FDR was 3.676 an as mutch timing in the motor as I can get befor it cogs.

Neil.

Thanks neil, what was your temp?  I was running a Novak 17.5 at 40deg of timing (according to novak), with a 3.93 FDR.   Motor was slightly warm,  my guess would be 80 deg F.
I know Gord said he was running around a 4.1 FDR with "Off the Chart timing" .

One thing though, the traction wasnt great yesterday for obvious reasons, so I dont think the motor temps will be to high. My car was sliding around like it was on an ice rink for the first couple of minutes.  Whatever is the quickest settings right now, will probably change by mid-summer when the heat comes into play.

I think I'm at 4.15 for FD I'm not sure on the timing as Shawn says it's off the chart what ever that means?
