Hey,

I'm getting into RCing and I am looking for a good starter RC car. I've been told something like a TC3 or 4 would be a good one. Something 4WD and something that I can turn into a drift car as I get better at handling a RC car. I will need everything needed to run it unless its something not too expensive to buy. I've got about $200 to spend, maybe a bit more. OR I MIGHT trade my 20GB M:Robe 500i (MP3 player and a built in camera!) for a really nice one.

PS: I might sell the M:Robe if someone is interested in buying it...

Thanks for reading my post.

The TC3 or TC4 is a car that you can race at the track.  You can probably find a complete set up for around $200 (TC3 or 4, motor, speed controller, body, wheels, radio and reciever and a servo - probably a battery and charger)

This is a good way to see if you think you would like to get into the hobby.  If you are pretty serious about it from the get go I would definately recomend bypassing getting the TC3 or 4.  At one point in time most of the guys raced the TC3 or 4 but its a dated car and its performance, fit and finish is nothing like what has become the club standard - the X-Ray.

So I guess what I would recomend is this.  If you think you'd like to try racing out get a used TC3 or TC4 to try it out.  If you think you are going to like it and want to dive right in get a used X-Ray like and '04 or '05.  If you can get a complete package thats the way to go.  If you want to get new stuff the Novak GTS is an excellent speed control for about $110 - the Novak GTX or LRP Quantum 2 nudges it out marginally and they run around $205.  A decent metal gear servo like the Hitec HS-625MG while not the fastest at .15 sec is around $40 or a high end digital coreless fast .08sec HS-5925 for around $100.  The Specktrum DX-2 radio/reciever runs for around $200 and comes with 2 servos IIRC.  Club batteries are around $55 or something like that - an excellent deal.  DO NOT cheap out on batteries.

Logan - "I'm Canadian."
