Alternative to Slapmaster thrust bearing?

Like the subject says.  Any easy way to get 1/4" ID thrust bearings that don't cost $25 a piece?  McMaster-Carr makes them for two bucks a piece but places like that generally charge outrageous shipping if not making a huge bulk order (not that I've confirmed it).  Avid only seems to have metric sizes.

The pan car seems really, really hard on outer diff bearings and a thrust would save a fortune in 3/8 x 1/4 flanged bearings.

Oh and you need to modify the aluminum spacer that is on the car. (I think the part number is 4121).    It needs to look like this.

I dont know if the serpent part will fit or not though.  The best way to modify it is with a counter sinking bit, and a drill press. But I did modify one with a dremel last year.
