Hi, all.

The track is all set for this week (Thanks for coming over to help, Chris). I was curious to see how the different surface would impact performance compared to the rough side. In the end I found that the surface was loose with 10 degree rubber on the back and 30 on the front but this was reduced as some of the dust and tiny debris was removed from the track. 10 or 30 degree rubber in front and 10 degree rubber in the rear seems to work OK in that you can actually handle the car as if it was outside and the track was a little loose. If you warm the tires a little, use compound and warm up the garage (I'll do that) then I think that it should be OK or at least better than the rough side was (picture Blake doing donuts).

Having said all of that I ended up with foam rears and 30 degree rubber in the front again and it was excellent. The track is very smooth in comparison to the other side and I found that the rear of my car was not hopping as much on high-speed corners. I think that with the small group of racers that we have on hand, there should be enough foams to borrow for Tuesday. BTW, it's a fast AND technical track!

Looking forward to it.

Ciao.

Hey Phil,
Fast AND technical don't usually go together!!  It will be interesting to see it.
See ya then.

Hi, Jim.

Yup. We split the straight in the middle and added a chicane mid way. There are three "Demi-Straights" (LOL) which accounts for the speed. It's also the longest lenght-wise that we have run. It's over 20 feet for sure. You'll see!

Jim - you gonna have your X-Mod ready for a demo?
Stryker - "This isn't about you, Logan. Your country needs you."
Logan - "I'm Canadian."

I may just bring it.  I am making it a "bling" car tho. By the time I'm done with it the car should be coll looking and fast. Think of it as an experimental vehicle in development.

so what your saying is the xmod isnt any good for racing......

From my experience, it is not as fast as a Mini Z.  As far as racing goes, they are good, as long as they race with other Xmods. I would strongly suggest you get a Mini Z if you want to run with the other guys OR if there are enough people with Xmods, we could start up an Xmod class. I don't think Phil would mind. Xmods are quite cool in their own way. You can tune them a lot and you can get nearly all the parts for the car in alloy for cheap prices.  If you want to talk to me about it (I've done a lot of investigation) come out tonite.  Overall an Xmod is a "tinkerer's" car.
Hope this helps.

Hi, folks.

You know, you can hop up a Mini-Z to the hilt for less than $100 total. I am running bearings and a diff and they both make a difference in performance I find. Having said this, Mike's MR-02 RM has the gear diff and it's fast and smooth.

I've installed the Kyosho oil-filled shock and the damper plates and I noticed far more mid-corner stability in my car. I can keep it pinned through most sweepers without much push. I have noticed, however, a small amount of push at low to moderate speeds on-throttle. I've found that playing with the tension ont eh damper plates has made a difference, too. Lots to consider but very simple to trouble shoot.

I spoke to Ken last evening and he said that drivers not running foam on his track find that 8 or 10 degree rears and 20-30 Degree fronts offer best predictability.

See you at the races.

Hi, Guys.

Just got off the phone with Ken and he is sending over 10 pairs of mounted foam rears and 10 pairs of 20 Degree rubber fronts. This is the setup that I have been using and any of you who have seen my car can attest, there is no shortage of traction with this combo. I attempted to go up 10 degrees in the front and found it was pushing lots (Blake, that's what I was running when you tried my car), so I dropped it back.

These tires will be chez moi and you can buy them at whatever the final cost is from Vancouver. Ken will ship tomorrow so they should be here by the next time we set the track up. First come first served ... final price to follow. If you would like me to put a set aside (1 full set per person to start) PM me and let me know.

Ciao.

Hi, all.

Only 5 pairs of tires left. $12.00 for foam mounted rears and $7.00 for 20 Degree rubber fronts. First come first served ... rear foams are hard to come by. Ciao.
