Hey all,

The club has a bunch of 12th Scale Jaco mounted foam tires in stock now.  We have the usual setup:  Purple Fronts and Grey Rears.  These come mounted on rims and pre-trued.  They are NOT the fancy-dancy 2-Stage Jaco tires that some of you may know about.  They are the regular tires that we've been using successfully for years at IROCC.

They are priced the same as the club Nitro Shoes from the summer.  PM me if you need more info.

Anyway, come see me tomorrow night if you need any tires.

Blake,
Having never purchased Nitro shoes, what is the price of the Jaco Fronts and Rears?

If the track magnets are the more popular choice why would "the club" not stock those?

i beleive  it would be 15  or 16 bucks for a pair front or rear witch makes it alot cheaper than the LHS especially if your buying crc rears at 27 bucks a pair

Probably because nobody in our club is good enough to benefit from something more exotic than the conventional gray/purple tire combination being offered.

Blake

Tom, "Track Magnets" are CRC's regular mounted tire.  They are just regular mounted foam tires; nothing fancy about em.  They are however very strong which made them far superior to the OLD Jacos of two years go or so (remember those grey wheeled ones that everyone kept destroying).

The new Jaco's are white wheeled and are MUCH stronger than the old ones.  They are also far cheaper and far more available than the Track Magnets.  I've been using Jaco Purples/Greys all season at IROCC with good success.

Doug is correct about the price.

So is the difference between Jacos and Track Magnets just the rims then?

If so, why all the confusion?

Here I was thinking they were something exotic, like the fancy big-diameter ones or something similar.

It seems nowadays people are more concerned about subtalties they never cared about years ago, and we never cared about them before because they never made a difference.

Either that or I'm really confused.

Blake

Yeah, the rim is the difference.  The CRC Track Magnet rim is very strong but very heavy.  The Jaco rim is much lighter but also a little weaker.

The important difference is that Jaco's are readily available to us and CRCs are not.

And, like I said above, I've used Jaco's for the entire season at IROCC and they've been great.

The CRC Track Magnets are probably the strongest of the tires.  I've had good sucess with the new Jaco wheels.  I got 7 weeks out of the rears (still OK but starting to show some wear) and the fronts are in excellent shape (and I've hit more than my fair share of walls)  I think if you are running in the D main stick with the Track Magnets for the strength - maybe the C if you like the walls - otherwise the Jacos are lighter but any advantage of lighter wheels will be lost by clipping a dot or two and a broken wheel will slow you down most of all.....

Track Magnets are still available.  I said that Jacos are more "readily available".  Jaco's can be had almost overnight while CRC orders are a little slower.

Blake

i also think that the jaco fronts are better than crc track magnent fronts as they spin alot smoother i think something is a little off in the bearing holes  on the crc as no matter what they always seem to have a little wobble

Blake

Hey Doug,

Yeah, that was definitely true of the original Track Magnet fronts.  I think Frank has that cased now though.

Blake

that could be as i have not used crc this year and been using jaco up untill the new pro cuts witch by the way are very nice

Blake

Hey all,

The club has just few sets of these 12th Scale Jaco mounted foam tires remaining in stock.  PM me or come see me Saturday night if you need any tires.  They will be sold on a first come, first served basis.
