New to Nitro! got questions

Hey guys, you can call me crazy, I've done it, I've bought Jamie's used Serpent Nitro car!  

I don't plan on racing it in competition right away until I get a handle on it.  I'm planning on trying it out on some Tuesday nights, or whenever practice night is going to be.

Got some questions:

What tires are the most popular?
What are good glow plugs to buy and who has the best price?

Any other friendly advise or warnings on how not to blow it up are welcome, I'm sure I'll have plenty of more questions to follow.

I was running Nitro Shoes 35 on the rear and x-50 on the fronts.  I think for the serpent most people are running 40 front and rear.

As for glow plugs I ended up using the one's Doug recomended and they last very well in my STS motor.  What were they again Doug?

is it a turbo  glow plug or regular.............. if its regular i would run an R5 if its turbo run a med to cold or just cold plug, dynamite ones are good price and last

I ran Jaco Nitro Shoes 40 all the way around, 35 all the way around and 40 front 35 rear combos. 35's do hook up but dont last. once our track comes aorund 40's are fine.

Glow plugs...as doug says you need to figure out normal or turbo first. The shavershop is of course a little more expensive but not too much more, normal plugs are 7-10 bucks turbo plugs are 10-14 bucks from my experience but they do last if you are tuned properly. (or dont have a connecting rod going,  which it kills them fast)

yo ya the only other tip is "slower is faster". I know ,I know, we all say it and usually only to newbies but with nitro slower is really faster. Stock electric cars are already going slow so it is harder to appreciate the principle. Nitro cars are ridiculously fast so they are "slow" until you get smooth and dont push through all the corners. The better your engine and clutch are tuned the worse it can be as you get to the next corner too fast!
