Hey, I've got a Tekin Power-Flex charger (BC112 A)  for sale. It can charge up to 1700 mah batteries and has tamiya plugs. Asking $30 OBO. Pics on request.

The TEKIN BC112A is an excellent charger Jody. I ran one for years without any problems. They also cost around $199 + taxes new. Or at least they did when I bought mine.

Thats an absolute steal for $30.....with or without a $5 set of Deans plugs attached. I would scoop it if i were you.

As you problably read that is a great charger.

If you want I could trade you an mrc charger that will charge your packs no problems.  I will charge up to 5 amps.(less amps more run time less punch,  more amps more punch less run time)

It's easy to use.

let me know.
ood grief I think I lost my....
. one turn at a time, but what do I have to do on the straight's again.

for a cool display option press alt+(f4)

Does the BC112A have an adjustable peak voltage threshold?  Or, at least, some way of fooling the charger into not over charging today's cells...?

Apparently there is an upgrade that either allows this to be adjusted or has a lower setting appropriate for NiMH however.

Silly question since I am niaive about the workings about this, but I wonder if a thermal probe would give an indication of peak based on temp that could simply be monitored at say the 40 minute mark or something to that effect based on capacity.

Tom

Thermal charging is a very reliable method of charging, however it has a few caviets.

1)  It is extremely important to remember to attach the thermal probe.  It is very easy to forget to connect it and cook your battery.

2)  When racing outdoors, the weather will have a large influence on the temperature of the pack, making thermal charging not a good option when there aren't good environmental controls.  Wind, sun, etc. will have a significant effet on the temperature of your batteries.

If you can eliminate the variables introduced by outdoor charging, and you can ensure you always connect the thermal probe, it is more reliable than peak charging.

Thermal charging is also sensitive to the charge rate, and the usual method is to look for a particular change in temperature to indicate charge completion, rather than absolute temperature.

Anyone interested in swapping a nice charger that runs off a household outlet that has deans or aligator clips for mine? (I PMed you cyrrus)
