i've raced on a few tracks where the lanes are marked with 6" pvc pipe

That's the best way to do it -- that's what we did at the old off-road tracks we had in Victoria and Duncan.

We also used the "Big O" courrigated flexible drain pipe as well, but that was a very poor option.  The ribs would snag the cars.

Remember, they're open wheel, so you need a smooth surface.  Hose just ain't going to cut it.

Once again, I wonder just what happened to our track equipment up in Duncan.  We had a great drivers stand, a bunch of the PVC pipe. . .

Hey Apoc,

The pic of your track layout looks like it is a BMX track. ie made for one lap only with a start at one end and a finish at the other.

Is this correct?

We were hopingto get multiple laps in in a session! LOL

the track will be open this weekend. we are all going to meet in the parking lot of the sooke river hotel to the right hand side of the cold beer and wine. hours of operating are 11 am till around 5 weather permited. prices will be based on member prices just for this weekend as introductions rates, we are located right behind the sooke river hotel and again meet up in the parking lot of the hotel, call or email if you need more info 2508866107

hope to see you all out there
also the track is made to have laps now not just one stright line an the runs over

BigDawg

Dog, I think it was rained out.

Hey Apocalypse, hope the track is working out well, couple of questions,

you mention that the special introductory rate for a day of practice at your track is $15.00.

What price does it go up to after that?

Do you have power and tables/ shelter, any facilities, washroom etc?
Thanks for letting me know

15 bucks? wow! that seems pretty steep for a club/track thats tryin to get going, would seem to me unless you have some very organized racing going on thats not going to help your cause

the thing with the pricing is that we have to rent the land and it being a 4.1 million dollar and having to rent it, also don't you guys charge to run on ashphalt and that's not even half the size I have up to 5 acres the build on, have to pay for track matence along side with building materals,
for now we have some tables out here, a generaltor if the wash room is needed we have one at the resanrt, soon to get lighting up for at night

Racing costs are $ 5 dollars per per class for the whole day during summer racing. Indoors is 10 dollars for all day with the rental of the building. So the restaurant is okay with using the bathrooms. I might get my old 1/8 scale buggy going if there is a track, but i would need to know more on the facility. Is it along walk to the track and can you post some pics or can you pit next to the track? Probably be open practice till you figure something out for lap times and races right.

BigDawg

as i first said 15 bucks is steep just to go play on a track, now if you have actual organized racing thats a different story, but i dont think your gonna get a huge following charging that much to play ,its definatly diffucult to get something like this going always a catch 22 situation

Tom

Best of luck, but I strongly believe the most successful racing tracks are not commercial.  Best wishes, but I have a hard time seeing a commercial R/C track becoming profitable around here.

so how is the track i might have my truck ready in a month or so
