Pics from 2007 and 2008 for the track layout.  Somebody should post the 2006 track if they have the picture.

What will it be this year?

It would be awesome to see the nitro cars and pan cars have to gear UP and rip down the 160 foot straight. My $.02. I wonder what we can/will do with the new boards this year ...

so do we have a count yet for the womens race?

It doesn't look too good.  The only ladies that have been mentioned to me are: Sarah, Trinity, Cherie, Gord's home-stay student, and *maybe* Christine.  So, if all of these ladies appear at around 2PM (for the third qualifier) or 3PM (for the mains) then we can run a race or two.

Hehe, yeah I remember Chris Morrison in 2007 with his 8-Turn 12th Scale on the full-length straight.  That thing moved.

Full length straight sounds good, but we'll have to examine those pot-holes to make sure they haven't become any worse.  I guess we could form the sweeper a little early or late so that the "line" doesn't go right through the middle of the pot holes.

Reminder all:

Track setup will be this Friday night - around 6PM or so.  See ya there.

Couldn't we also not leave any room for tents at the far end (which roasts like Craig's nitro motor  ;) )and start the straight earlier and create a tent village exclusively at the shady end? What if we ran reverse direction? Could we put a chicane at the end that has a viable straight line (or not) Or we could just leave it and mark it with chalk. Just thoughts.

I have always found the long straight to be a bit boring IMO, but thats just me.  I also seem to remeber that everyone that imediately geared up in their stock cars blew up!

I hear you on the boring part but we could put 10 cars in the heats. We only get to do this once a year, though, so I say let's take advantage of the opportunity. Cars respond differently, different driving, generally higher speeds and such. We have the tighter techinical tracks all indoor season and most of the outdoor season (compared to this opportunity, that is). BTW, while some did gear up, I just switched to the Type E motor rather than gear up in 2007 when we had the long straight. Did the trick - more rpm. Whatever we run will be fun anyway. It always is. Nice facility and more of a relaxed atmosphere it seems. I liked seeing all the kids lined up on the straight. Fun.

yes having a cheering crowd is nice. I think our announcing skills have improved over the last year or so too, so hopefully we can all put on a good show for the fans if we get any!!

If you need another for the ladies race, can Katie run in it?

Hey Vince,

Yes, as Tom suggested to me, the only requirement for the Ladies Class is that you have "female plumbing"....  Katie is more than welcome to run in that class, but there will only be one qualifier (3rd round) and main.

I'll be picking up the beer tickets and the pancake breakfast tickets Friday night during track setup.  I'll start selling the beer tickets during track setup.  It'll be first come, first served, so make sure you come out to help setup if you want a discount price on beer.

Does anyone have a decently stable step-ladder they can bring to the track tomorrow night?  Our driver's stand is a little intimidating for Fast Eddie from Vancouver, and I've seen him use a step-ladder as a drivers stand in the past.

Let me know if you can help out.  It would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Blake

I am going to bring my mine along, but its not necessarily the best.  If someone has a better one, they should bring it.
