Like the subject says, I'd like to start a Pro10 car for next year and the occasional carpet run this winter (from what I understand).  I just need to be clear on some stuff, first.

It's true Pro10, which is to say 235mm, correct?  There seem to be very few modern cars that wide.  The CRC with the expansion kit is about all I know of for mainstream stuff.  The RC Devil car is also 235, but very, very expensive ($800+) and shall we say, overengineered.  Not that I don't like weird stuff but there's a limit...

The Darkside goes to 215, but most everything else is 200mm.

10.5 brushless motors and 2S lipos?

I'm leaning hard toward the CRC car + 235mm kit + the 3-link from Stranahan ( http://site.mawebcenters.com/stranahanrc/_images//1Product_images/3-link_rear_end/Nerf_Wings_Finished.jpg ).  I suspect I'd then go to the damped front suspension for the summer ( http://site.mawebcenters.com/stranahanrc/_images//1Product_images/dual_A-arm_front_end/Gen_X_10-_Dual_A-arm_Front_End_003.jpg )

All common parts, no waiting for 6 weeks for a shim like the R/C Devil, and about half the price to boot.  I like the theory behind the Stranahan conversions, particularly the three link.

I have a crc almost new with the wide kit for sale, $275

wow, i like those front/rear susp. kits.. very cool..

1/10 xray t2'16
1/10 bolink eliminator

Melba, don't get too far ahead of yourself. There maybe a change in the Pro10 next year, we may start conforming to the newer WGT class????
WGT is single cell lipo and 13.5 motors, 200mm wide. Pro10 is fun and faster but WGT is more standard now. I would prefer the Pro10 but it is very hard to find a GTP body for my old Ass.10L4 which is only 200mm wide.

RC51

Hey, Daj.

Wouldn't that render some cars ineligible such as some of the wider 10Ls, Corally C10X (noth the 10X New generation) or cause more purchases of kits, accessories, batteries, bodies, tires and such?

Hey guys,

Big topic; probably best to chat as a group over the winter.

Daryl is thinking about aligning us with the rest of North America on the WGT platform.  I tend to agree with him, but there is a LOT of analysis that needs to be done to figure out what is best for IROCC and its racers.  Phil is correct in that we don't want to alienate any existing IROCC Pro10 racers/cars.

With that said, I would possibly hold back on purchasing a bunch summer time race equipment until we have a better picture of next year's summer program.

Let's chat this one out in the gym.  All opinions welcome.

As a not-very-experienced racer I can say that WGT holds little interest for me, unless it was to be "Outlaw" WGT, with 2S lipos and more motor.  Body style, width and a spec tire don't bother me, but  the (almost) unlimited nature of the Pro10 class is what's so cool.  Pure WGT and Touring stock seem awfully close in spirit, so I don't see me running both - I'd just throw the money into the touring car.

I was wondering if there were going to be any changes for next year, good thing I brought it up before pulling the trigger on a bunch of gear.

I'm liking the new look and I think it would bring more racers possibly from van.

Sorry to open a can of worms. I would prefer to save this class the way we have it, but as you all know I cannot find replacement bodies for my chassis and I cannot fit a brushless motor in it either. So I will be sitting on the fence to see as well. If I could find bodies, I still have more 19T motors to burn up.

I tend to agree that the high-power, driving-skill-needed aspect of Pro10 is awesome.  Dumbing it down to a TC-Stock clone is definitely not the spirit we're looking for.  Perhaps a 200mm WGT chassis/body but with 7.4V?

It'd just be nice to not be the only club in North America running Pro10 (as cool as Pro10 *was*).

Hehe, no worries.  I think we should all put some thought into it, and talk about it over the winter to see what makes the most sense for everyone at IROCC.

Yeah I for one would definitely be into that, but would also lobby (as a yet not-paid club member) that 10.5/19T is cool, too.  Maybe too much for the tires?

I could still start on the car, building it as a 200mm.  Sure opens up the possibilities, which I imagine is mainly what you're after.

If we are going to run WGT, then run WGT. Follow the rules exactly, no deviation from the rules 1S/13.5.   2S/10.5BL is to much power for a WGT body.

Although I do like the idea of running WGT to be compatable with more racers, I have enjoyed the Pro10 racing more than anything else the last couple of years.  Its fast and fun.  It has also been a popular class of cars in the club, and has produced some of the best racing.
