Batteries

Craig gave me 3 of the green 4600 mah batteries to test if they are any good, they have all taken 5000 mah, my charger however has not said full but instead stops at 5000 and says 'CAPA'. Should i continue to charge these batteries until charger says they are full. they are also not hot at all, practically room temperature.

So, should i charge them more?

Increase the capacity setting to above 5000. Just make sure you have the number of cells and the chemistry right. Should be okay. Does the charger have a temperature probe? highly recommended when charging Sub C batteries.

The only setting I have for NiMH batteries is choosing between 0.1 - 5A, also no temperature gauge and batteries were not hot after charging the 5000Mah which took 66min

Use your dads charger, it will not stop at 5000ma.

I can charge it again, thats not a problem, just wondering since there only 4600 MaH is it hitting the batteries to put 5000+ in them?

Batteries are rated at their discharge capacity.

Since they are not 100% efficient, you must always put more energy into them than they will provide back. Therefore, you will always have to put more in them than the capacity on the label.

Charge 'till they're full. If they're not hot, they're not full.
