Do you want a RC track in Victoria area?

I want a place to go play. And am willing to help in anyway I can, but not interested in any form of organized off road racing.
I dont want to help but want a place to go play and to race in a organized off road racing club.

hey guys just went thought the thread quickly,  the issue about the Old bmx track and the new bmx track,  the old BMX track is run by ABA,  and only they are allowed to race and practice on that track.  the new one that they built for the Worlds last year is not used by the ABA,  as ABA is not allowed to use that track and/practice on it.  plus it is to big for them to use anyhow.  both track as staying put for now according to my friend who's son BMX's

The old track is now a parking lot
you would never know there was a track there

Did some brain storming this is what I came up with for a layout for the track. Should be able to handle all our needs for 1/10 to 1/8 scale truggys etc.  :)

Have you even come by to meet any of the members yet. Also then we would know if you were real or not.

Heh, I'm guessing Alan is real; not a keyboard friendly robot.

Alan, your name came up at our club race yesterday.  Any word on the location/owner of the land you are looking at?

Yes I realize that he is a real person but nobody was willing to challenge this guy at all. Nobodies met him in person and this track thing is a big deal to all of us. We all would like to have are own place.

Hi there gents, thought we should tell you what we've been up to lately.  My name is Jami and I've teamed up with Alan trying to find land in Greater Victoria that we can use to build a quality off-road track on.  I've been an off-road backyard basher for many moons but have never come out to check out one of your road events (I'll make it out soon, I swear).  I've always hoped an off-road track would get started here in Greater Victoria that I could join but as you all know to well, that hasn't happen lately!  What Alan and I are trying to do at this point is locate a piece of property that we can use without cost (other than insurance).  I'm sure others have tried before us and obviously failed, but times do change and we thought we'd give it a go.  Location is key and at this point I'm looking at commercial properties with vacant land around.  Recently I've been in contact with the owner of Western Speedway but nothing is available there (looked promising for a minute).  Maybe once the gravel pit lease is up in three years we can look at that again.  We haven't yet approached Juan de Fuca as it looks like the only possible location is now a parking lot.  I'm in the process of tracking down the owners of the Sandown Park land in North Saanich as I understand the horse track is shutting down soon.  So far all I can find out is it's owned by Colwood Park Association Ltd. in Vancouver.  So the search continues...

By no means do we wish to take away anything from the IROCC club and speaking for myself I'd just like an off-road race track local to Greater Victoria that I can be involved in and get to within 30min.  Family life keeps one close to home these days!  Ultimately, a RC park for on and off-road racing (like the Kamloops experiment) would be great to be involved with but local land and location seems to be the issue (as always).  Dare to dream though dare to dream...

Any help or advice to this regard would be greatly appreciated.  Please feel free to email me anytime.  Thanks guys...

I will try to get out to your road event this weekend to say hi as long as it's not raining (#$&*#)

Thanks for the update Jami and Alan.  Best of luck with your search.

In the meantime, when you have a free Sunday, take a trip up to Air Ink in Nanaimo.  You'll get a temporary offroad fix, and they'd love to have your support.

Well, so much for built-in word censoring.    :o
Hence why I detest such mis-applications of technology by their very principle.

I think Juan de Fracka has a nice ring to it.

Well an update:

Things are moving forward. I sent off an email to the Langford City council. The Langford Parks Manger Jason Parks looked through the email and was interested in the idea of track in Langford area. He has pitched the idea to fellow board members today. I am currently waiting their decision, I will be hearing from him this week sometime. Hopfully they have something good to say :-[

Hey guys,
My name is Mike....new here, anyways i think there might be a good chance to have a track at sandown park me and my buddy screw around there all the time with our nitro rc trucks and we talk to the groundskeeper every now and then and he thinks its awesome that someone is using the land.....he might be our "in" something to think about......

Coastal007

Hey badabing, thanks for chiming in!  I've tried to contact the owners of the Sandown Park land in North Saanich (Colwood Park Association Ltd from Vancouver) and I haven't had any luck getting anyone on the other end.  The next time you're out talking to the groundskeeper, see if he has a contact we can speak to regarding using a small piece of land for an RC track.  Thanks...
